  1. Sorry Glenn, I should have. You seemed busy and dropping off the Ti was actually in the middle of a business meeting. My friend is really impressed with how you've looked after him, thanks.
  2. After seeing it at Glenn's today, it certainly sounds nice, but I prefer my wheels.

    AMI insurance

I don't think it is, nz owned hence the government bail out.Happy to be corrected though.
  4. I got one from Gavin, think it was an E30 one? Changed feel of change slightly (for the better) and wasn't too much from memory.
  5. Thought you must be close, we're 10 sec away.
  6. I see Dudlee most weekends it seems in Mission Bay
  7. Wow. Bummer Johno, hope it works out. Must have been a truck? No video? Surely they'll try and sell them? do they have a batch number or anything to identify?
  8. You have a point in racing terms Neal, but an E30 325 is not a 328 and and a 318is will be slower for everyday driving. Horses for courses though, I'm sure they'd be fine as an everyday car, just don't take on any 1.8 Corollas.....
  9. I've used Mothers plastic polish on headlights and very windows, works well.

I think the 318is is a touch quicker than above, but sincerely doubt it would go beyond high 8s to 100km/h. Autocar UK tested a 328i coupe, at 6.4 and 149mph. As has been stated here before, the torque of a 328i makes it very driveable.

    Spray on chrome

Is it really that bad? I had some stuff done at Otahuhu Electroplaters a few years ago, wasn't bad at all.
  12. Google wheel offset calculator, the Miata forum one is good.
  13. You hit two nails on the head. One car that had "whatever needed doing done" versus taxis that have minimal maintenance and no bushes/suspension/driveline joints replaced unless they fell out. Any car is only as good as its maintenance schedule.
  14. A mate had a V6 A4, bought it for $5k and spent $5k on numerous repairs, a new clutch for a 1.8T will set you back close to $3k. Passat will be hard to find in manual, seems to wear front suspension bushes and glove boxes fall off. I'd have the 6 every time. My 2 cents, based on friends who've had them.
  15. I used to see one of those cars around regularly. Interesting, I'd say most are imports (judging by the plates) with either standard anti theft or nothing?
  16. But cheaper than the $700k or so they were quoted at back a few years and with some good history. Still a huge amount of money though.

    E30 seat

I assume all E30 seats fit, so I need a cheap or free E30 seat in Akld. Condition pretty much irrelevant as long as you can sit in it and drive short distances.
  18. Actually, I stuffed up, couldn't figure out why the figure looked so good, then realised the web site I used for the conversion calculated on US gallons, not imperial. Correct figure for round town usage only is 9.9-11.3l/100km. Had 7.7l/100km on a relaxing trip.
  19. I have a leaking clutch cylinder (I presume), how do I tell which? I remember one used to leak in the drivers footwell, no leak this time. Need to know which one to order off Gavin, or should I just do both again?
  20. I get 8.4-9.4l/100km out of a 328i manual in Auckland rush hour traffic, how much better would you expect a 318i auto to be?
  21. Just hoses? Would seem hard to believe that Enzed Hoses(?)/Hydraulink or someone similar can't make up at least OEM spec or better hoses for less than $330 a piece.
  22. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-420292812.htm Would the eta head make it slower? Or has it had the whole lot done?
