  1. Thanks, it does look like an easy repair, but kids and work don't really leave me enough time to buy a soldering iron etc and burn myself. Driving to Brents sounds easier. Cheers anyway.
  2. Parked car, everything worked, got back in, display dead, pushed auto and it came back to life, then flashed and went extremely dim. Parked again, got back in, nothing at all. Fan doesn't work, no buttons work. Stuffed? Is this my best bet? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-500805605.htm Easy to take out/refit? Cheers.
  3. Then again, if it's one of 25 as the interweb suggests (although I note no AMG rocker covers), maybe it's worth a bit more. Or you could try this for little more. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-494788035.htm
  4. IMHO, a ridiculous price. I think they're a great looking car, but have had two friends with them who have both had ignition (relay?) failures, at a cost of $3k each, plus delivery time for parts. The last one of these I saw on TM was about $17k. Left hook isn't great either.
  5. Looks like a Stilo Abarth, 2.4 5 cylinder. Probably has the fiat version of selespeed which may be why it's on the side of the road.

    WTB: E36 Wagon

I know of a nz new black msport kitted 328i manual with leather that sold late last year for $45-4700. They're out there. Full history on that too with about 170kms.
  7. Well they both have 4/5 seats and an AMG badge, but otherwise, yeah.
  8. Fixed. Thank you WD-40.
  9. Buy the S55 AMG I have. 368kw, 700nm. 0-100 in 4.6.
  10. How do you open the doors?
  11. Looks nice in photos 7,8,9.

    BMW Supra anyone?

Hybrid technology. Guess its not rubbish after all.
  13. Ok, got in the car today (actually I didn't) and the door handle raised as normal, but did nothing. Window didn't drop as it should and door wouldn't open. Opens ok from inside, window drops etc? Problem? Fix? Time and cost? Cheers.
  14. The 45% jump in power over a CL500 is fairly compelling, as is owning one of only 26 cars made. As an AMG model, I'm sure the parts availability/pricing is exciting as well.
  15. "63" M137 6.3L V12 The "63" badging was used on the short-lived 2001 S63 AMG and 2001 CL63 AMG. These were produced in limited quantities for one month and only offered through AMG to select customers in Europe and Asia, purportedly state leaders. The CL63 AMG was the rarest W215 CL of all, and just 26 examples were built in November 2001 (51 plate), with some UK being registered in March 2002. These had a base price of £110,000 (~US$200,000).[40][41][42] These are powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3L V12 producing 444 PS (438 hp/327 kW). This engine is based on the M137 5.8L V12 used in the S600 and CL600, but the AMG variants have a larger displacement, a new management system, a new crank case and cooling system, weight-optimized pistons, and a new camshaft with greater valve lift and modified valves. 390 lb·ft (530 N·m) of torque are available between 2500-5800rpm with a peak of 457 at 4400 rpm while horsepower grows by almost 80 over the 5.8L V12. It is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The 2001 S63 AMG V12 had 100 hp more than the 2001 S55 AMG, and was a few tenths faster.[40][41]

    E30 Suspension

I could be wrong, but think they are a different height to other E30s? Vaguely remember something when I changed mine. Someone will know.
  17. I highly doubt it, an RS6 was supposed to be good for 4.5 0-100, with 450hp and turbo torque.

    WTB Marmite

I had two jars, I think we gave them away, but will check.
  19. I said competitively priced, not competitive quality! I was happy to see my 4.5 year old R32 go with the a/c failing and due a major DSG service. Probably the deciding factor was pulling into traffic to find a box full of neutrals.
  20. I thought he meant who would buy an X1? I'm pretty sure VW have dropped prices in NZ over the last 5-10 years and seen their sales go up significantly, the Coke Golfs are a pretty good sign they are competitively priced. Still seen as a premium brand too.
  21. Only a guess, but is it like a BM, so you need the key etc? I'd hit the yellow pages or google, if you can be bothered.
  22. Now that's a brilliant piece of design. My dad has an '01 Punto Sporting, about 4-5 years now. It has been 100% reliable. There must be a wreckers with an ECU, cheap? Not like there'd be much demand?

    E36 M3

I thought you were referring to the 318is M3 in Dakar. That is missing a few bits.
