  1. i've had a few diesels and none of them covered more than a few hundred ks while in my ownership im shopping for another as a daily now because the e30 is about to get a makeover and i miss travelling 600ks for $80 round town
  2. awesome, but imagine how much better it would be if it wasn't matte black...
  3. that would be the security feature that makes it not run? has anyone in nz done this swap before? i've seen a couple floating round on youtube that look like good front-heavy fun
  4. Im sure all osama's mates will be super chuffed about this... probably going to create a whole new chapter in terror's war on the US.
  5. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-373105441.htm this^^ DO IT. someone needs to take on the challenge!
  6. sh*t i was just skim reading it, completely missed that part. $7500 seems like a bargain when theres a special washer involved
  7. news to me, but $7500usd is alot of money to throw at an m30, i guess it's at aimed at people wanting a boosted monster of an engine. i'd be more inclined to turf it and get an m62 though, it'd probably work out cheaper, and it has added v8 factor
  8. this. tried and tested on my old pfl e30
  9. gutted to hear that man, if the seller sold it to you as a 2.5 then the balls in their court as far as liability goes, even if it was a genuine mistake on their part. i hope you bought it locally, then the whole process of returning the engine and getting your money back shouldnt be too much of a faff. if they aren't cooperating then take it to the disputes tribunal, it'l be a very open and shut case for them. hope it all goes smoothly for you and you can get your car finished quickly, nz needs more e30m50s!
  10. yes it is normal for PFL e30 front indicators to double as park lights. e30 outer headlights run a double beam bulb (two filaments in the same bulb, one high beam one low beam) your outer left hand headlight is only working on high because the low beam filament has blown. as it is a sealed beam headlamp you have to replace the whole unit rather than just the bulb. theyre cheap as chips to buy and any autoparts shop will be able to sort you out with one.
  11. is it ever.... get one while you still can!! seriously though, it seems to be a good, cheap, do-most-not-too-demanding-things computer.
  12. I just bought myself a cheap nasty toshiba from DSE, to replace my hp netbook which got the bash when it lost wireless signal one too many times while i was talking to the mrs via skype. it has some memory, some ram, a cd player and many other things, didn't seem too bad a buy for $650, cant comment on hdmi output because i don't know what that is. may be worth a look?
  13. bugger, I was always a huge fan of that car. Not so much of the look but more so of the amount of work that had gone into it and it's ability to create epic shitstorms whenever it was bought up on here. it polarized opinions like nothing else.
  14. as long as e36 hubs on an e30 don't widen the track too significantly (you'll have a better idea of that than i do) then you should get away with it. it might be a tight squeeze on the rear but i've seen 4 stud e30s running zero offset 15x8s without too much difficulty. if they are slightly too wide and the hub faces on the wheels have enough metal on them just get them machined back slightly. if you need this done and you're in chch flick me a pm. i'll buzz a bit off them for a box of beers
  15. nice looking little car, wish I had the cash lying around, it'd make an awesome daily! it won't sit around for long.
  16. try giving the cooling system a good bleed, and then giving it a bleed again. doesn't cost anything and worked for me when I had the same issue in my e30. lack of a working fan also causes stationary overheating, as will a waterpump with a damaged impeller that can't circulate enough coolant at low rpm.
  17. the best part of a million bucks and you still get a repco steering wheel and a crappy monster tacho. some people... must have accidentally hit the zero button a few too many times.
  18. just spotted this lot, would be a great buy for someone wanting to tidy up the front end of their e30 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-365423119.htm
  19. awesome vid, this youtube comment sums it up... "Cost of Car -- $2300 Total Parts fitted -- $5255.29 Beating a $75,000 Porsche with a $7000 1992 BMW 325i -- Priceless"
  20. times like these i wish i didn't decide to become a poor student again...
  21. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-362983708.htm This^^ to me it looks like a nice tidy tech1 e30 with some cool alpina c2 badges and a large price tag attached to it, Can anyone tell me why this car is worth 15k? Apart from the badges it doesn't seem to have any alpina features... Looks like it might be a 4 door auto 318i sporting m3 badges kind of situation.
  22. This is hands down the funniest sh*t on the interweb at this point in time. After reading the listing and some of the comments posted here I am well and truly In hysterics. Great find!
  23. iv just made the switch from a nokia e73 wannabe smart phone to an iPhone 4, the nokia used to be impossible to use and piss me off endlessly, hence the change. As for the iPhone, it's awesome. Doesn't make things harder than they need to be like some of the other smartphones on the market today. Retina display is pretty impressive too.
