I have a 318is one here thats aluminium and bolts to the body with 4 bolts (probably cause its aluminium). With the sliding bolts in the chassis you'll probably be alright though.

There is apparently a new gas that is compatible with the seals in the older AC systems that is available now. Might be worth checking out.
