Best thing I can suggest is that you try and find either a written off, or cheap E36 328. It will give you nearly all the parts you need for a much cheaper price.

Also, if your car has a Gretrag 260 you can use that and your current driveshaft. Your Gbox crossmember needs modding along with the shifter but probably easier then finding a ZF box and you can keep your diff.

E36 M52 Vanos is a simple switch on/off system. Works on the intake cam only (advances/retards it). Alloy block not as strong as iron but fine for a modest powered road car. S52 is a US only engine for their M3 Evo. 3.2 litre version of their M52. Theres a big old sticky here that tells you heaps about fitting the M52 to an E30.
