'Bout all you can do is give it a go. The worse that can happen is you have to repaint it. Cutting compounds are a hard core polish so dont be surprised if it ends up with a gloss. Be carefull though if you've used a can as there wont be a lot of paint to work with.

Not too sure I'm following this right but, the idea behind wet sanding is to remove the orange peel before buffing to make it shine. If you want a satin or flat look you need to use a satin or flat paint and leave it as it comes off the gun/can. If you sand it, it will be difficult to get it to look even. It might have a finish similar to 'brushed' aluminium. PS my fan makes an inappropriate racket too.

Ha, there's all sorts of wrong going on now. Couldn't really tell ya mate. I have very little experience with std type E30s. In front position makes alot more sense technically. Jamez E30 race car has a boot mounted tank maybe he can give you an idea.

Rule on exhaust is behind rear-most opening window. Strangely, now I've sealed almost all the rear bulkhead and can drive with the window down without getting fumed out from the drop tank, seems to be a faint exhaust smell. Maybe I'm dreaming... Anyway, I need a tank I can get two fuel level senders in to have it work with the E46 gauge. Yeah kinda, I guess.

Replaced the front control arm bushes, stuck some camber plates in to dial out the camber etc. Contemplating losing the tank for a std one with the exhaust out the back again. Proving a pain to seal the fumes out. Anyone have a pic of a later fuel tank? They are a double sided thing? Then maybe sell it for the next project ha.

So, I take it all back. After seeing them in real life form, these are a real nice wheel. Hell of a lot more shape than the photos show. Still no 740, but there ya go

Shocks, brakes, tyres and make sure the auto's maintained. I'd be far more concerned about not boiling it rather than where it was shifting. You're always going to be fighting the weight of it, so keep it simple and dont throw away tons of cash. That way when the 330s, WRXs, MX5s, Integras etc are running rings around you, you wont curse yourself so much . It'll still be fun.

What sort of car are you wanting to get at the end of all this? <..Really is the most important question. PS if the missus cant drive manual, teach her (not sure if ?)
