'Probably the best looking E39 540i in NZ...'
westy replied to jeffbebe's topic in TradeMe discussions
Still wrong. Mines far better looking... -
Not sure what you're getting at with 'steel work', but it means you need to find out how others have gone about adding headers and what they did to avoid CELs and stuff. But first you need to find out if you have them.
-
The M54 often has Cat-in-header design with pre and post Cat sensors. Complicates the issue somewhat.

I said E46 and pretty sure he said E34. Helps to read.
-
You could use 245/40 and 225/45 instead as the e46 sport uses?

So, I may, or may not, have driven this thing from Hville to Silverdale the other day. And it may, or may not, be something of a hoot to drive. Noisy (no sound deadning), smelly, bumpy (she must be pretty light, it's been some work getting the height down) and a bit twitchy (needs a wheel alignment). All systems work! Plenty more fettling to do but these things are never really finished I guess.
-
I'd like to whip it all out and bung it in an old wagon as a daily. Something along the lines of a HQ or XR etc.

17x8 about 40mm offset for e36/46 etc. $200 wheels only. Pretty tidy/general wear and tear. Cheapies for the track or some such.

A gift from the car gods right before Christmas

They could have used it somewhere else though... -
The law actually states So as long as you can prove you are within the manufacturers recommendations you are within the law. There is a guidance document the certifiers use in the absence of manufactures recommendations. For example the guideline states that the max width wheel a 215/40 tyre can be fitted to is 8.5". Falkon, however, recommend the same tyre can be fitted to a 9" rim. See the difference?
-
Ya, na he's right, the chart is 'guidance' for certifiers. There doesn't seem to be any requirement yet for WOFs (wont be long I suspect). Agree with the rant though. Real men wear real rubber.

That other set make no difference?
