Telemarketers. That old chestnut. It's not my fault you chose a sh*t job now leave me alone. Even got one on the cell phone t'other day, is nothing sacred?
  5. Actually, that may not be true anymore, hmmm.
  6. This 1/2hectare 50kms north west of Auckland with 260m2 house is also cheaper than a 4 bed on the Shore. Just needs a shed....

Pretty sure he's right. You are able to pursue further expenses from a liable 3rd party through the disputes tribunal or courts. If you want the hassle.

But you insured for $20k? Any excess to pay? What is the buy back number?

Have they valued it at $15? Is that what they're offering for a right off? As to buy back, it looks like Swann have buy back option as an extra to the contract. What does your contract say? <again.
  11. That's cool. I want one.
  12. If you do have a 2.9 or there abouts it'll be pretty much spot on with the ZF box if it's the E36/46 box with 1:1 5th. Close as damn it to factory 2.98:1.

They'll get back whatever it costs them. Whatever it costs them depends on how closely they want to look at it (it's often easier and cheaper for an insurer to write a car off than it is to fully investigate a repair) and whether they're willing to push for a repair on your behalf, I guess. Hence the word "may" in the clause above. What does your policy say? PS not saying you're sh*t outta luck or anything just dont expect them to stump up full repair when they may not be liable for it. Keep at it them, no harm in trying.

Not necessarily. You're claiming under your insurance, not theirs. Swann right? Does it have this clause? Guess it depends on whether they're willing to go into bat for you? .

It's the assessors job to assess whether to right it off or not. Standard practice. You'll have to negotiate a settlement with the insurer to include buy back from them. If the rego is cancelled you might run into problems with the repair as it will probably need a repair cert in order to re-register it for the road which might cost a fair bit. Can only suggest you get onto them about a buy back before they have a chance to deregister it, I bought a right off back from the insurer and managed to come out the other side with a live rego but there might have been a bit of luck in that. PS, dont underestimate the cost to repair. It's a bit of a gamble that you will need to think carefully about.
  16. I should say, it's not something you can do yourself unless you have the gear. But there are people out there who are easily capable of coping with the electronic side of things.
  17. Yup. They're being bought back into line with the others by the sounds of things.
  18. Is it one of those 'other wheels for wof' gigs?
  19. For manual conversions? Not so much, no.
  20. Could be a bit tricky but I'm thinking you're used to that ha. These from realoem.com appear to show the e36 on the front cover here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=CD12-EUR-02-1997-E36-BMW-328i&diagId=11_6074 The e46 appears to have a separate piece for the trigger wheel. Part 8 here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=AM52-EUR-01-1999-E46-BMW-328i&diagId=11_1547 With sensor mounted here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=AM52-EUR-01-1999-E46-BMW-328i&diagId=11_2167 Not sure if the earlier block will have a suitable area to mount it.
