  1. LS3 + G-Force 4spd dog box. Wouldn't touch an SR20. For a left field option, Toyota 3RZ + Turbo. Few guys on Toymods have them running 10psi on a stock high Km Motors with 300whp in Hiluxs'. Built motors are good for +1000hp (look up the NORAD celica)
  2. He was the first I contacted when I considered such madness. Hope to hear from him before I f*#k it up.
  3. Got the Homologation & Log Book in the mail today. Now for the DiY paint job on the interior - not looking forward to it, but something I'd like to learn. Any hints & tips welcome...
  4. Hmm, I must have been thinking about the E46 M3 rear cover then... [evil thoughts]Sounds like a perfect match for the wifes Stagea, wonder if she'd notice...[/evil thoughts]
  5. If you've got the E36 M3 evo LSD internals, don't you have the dual ear 210 rear cover they came from..... That's going to be one hella tough backend!! So what happened to the VK56?
  6. You're prob' thinking about that green one, with a pair of massive turbos.... Something like this one aye Darren: clean and tidy
  7. Any plans to baffle / gate the sump around the pick-up?
  8. I would have thought it's the 3 mode Auto trans. Has a little 3 way switch 'S P E' or some such bollocks like the rest of the descripition in that auction
  9. Not any physical work on the BMW. But went into MSNZ this AM, got my race license renewed, Log Book & Homologation Papers submitted, and the OK to get some paint on the cage

Engine bay looks super tidy, good work. Now we need some videooooos Re: washer bottle, I grabbed one of an E23, fits in the same place as the E30's but is only ~5" wide and sits against the guard.
  11. According to REALOEM It should be M12x1.5 and 55mm long. A std engineering grade 8.8 bolt from Mitre 10 that is the closet to that length (or longer) would be adequate.
  12. Got the Oil Drain all done, test fitted the oil feed for the turbo. Started on a brace for the down-pipe. All the fiddle stuff to get into *joy* That should make for a more engaging experience. Good work!
  13. Centre of Cyl No.1 is on or just behind the front axle line. I can easily stand in the engine bay in front of the engine. Will get a pic from above next time the engine is back in, as I have a couple of marks on the guards where the axle line is. I was following the then current OSCA rules which allow 305mm firewall setback and Cyl No.1 being no more than 5% of the wheel base behind the front axle.
  14. Cheers guys, Just have to keep the momentum up now. Got the turbo oil drain all tacked up today. Need to find a 3" length of some 3/4"-16 threaded tube for the oil filter relocation, then a bunch of hose & fittings.
  15. Well, she's back from her holiday at Bam's Just need to sort out my expired race licence(s) and send off the homologation paper work. Had to dial it back a bit to meet my budget, plus I'm never going to want, get or expect 10/10th out of an old E30 chassis. So what would have cost a lot more $$ didn't really add any more value (to me). It is still a pretty comprehensive 8pt cage with nice direct load paths through the main members. Most of the 'extra' stuff can easily be added later if so desired/needed. Also, the way Sch A now reads, and from discussions with MSNZ, directly tie-ing the 'safety' cage into suspension or driveline mounting points is a no-no (ie. top of the rear shock-tower, rear subframe attachments, etc...), With the emphasis on occupant safety and not a means to building a half tube frame reinforced chassis, unless you head down the 'free concept' path and prepare all the engineering calcs/certification. Now I need to pull finger and get the motor & loom back in there *joy*

  17. Unburied the old girl and got her outside. Shame about the water ban down here, as she's in dire need of a wash.
  18. Update time. The E30 saw the light of day for the first time in +4yrs. Found a small dragon lurking in the bay... And a smaller one making the engine sounds from the drivers seat... And a couple of the finished tunnel / firewall. Now it's off to get the rollcage done
  19. Those are the 90mm long competiton studs! You don't need those unless you need to run +30mm spacers, or bolt on some spinners and dice up pedestrians. Have a look at Bimmerworld, I'm sure they have nickle plated shorter replacement studs. Don't go half-arsed and buy generic 'studs' from the local fastening supplies store. Remember these are for holding your wheels on, and, more importatnly keeping other road users safe.
  20. Trans tunnel is finished (yay). Found the missing rear sump parts (phew). Took out the windscreen (so easy, under 5mins DIY). Booked in for the 'Jungle Gym' mod next week. Now for some more online shopping.
  21. You need to use proper wheel studs, designed for that purpose. RRT, Vorshlag, Turner and Bimmerworld all do stud conversion kits that screw in place of your wheel bolts. Also pay to double check this isn't a WoF or LVVTA cert. issue, as you are altering how the wheels are attached. Alternative is to remove all the hubs from the car and have the hubs drilled out and pressed in studs inserted. Not the best solution, if you replace a front wheel bearing on an E30, you'll need to drill out and insert new studs into the new hubs.....
  22. -2 I think you guys might have confused it with a roadster/convertible.......
  23. wow, so they are, quite surprised. would so take this Z4-M over something like this E46 M3
  24. Z4M Coupe. Looks hawt. Newer interior / iDrive??? Bigger Brakes (IIRC M3 CSL size rotors). Stiffer front knuckles. Looks hawt still. I wouldn't have thought they were in the same price range as the typical E46 M3? More like E90/92 M3 $$$? Can't say I've looked too hard.
  25. We looked at buying one about a yr ago, NZ New 4.4 X5, had higher KM's (190's I think). Had a no expense spared full service history (was a bit mind boggling with the $$ added up). Thing that stood out / detered us was the frequency that it needed Brakes (discs/pads) and Suspension (Arms & Bushes) replaced. The front bushes/arms had been done 5 times (both sides) and the rears 3, brakes all round 4 times. That's without all the other stuff, trans services, PCV replacements, Valve cover gaskets, 2 radiators. And from trawling the intaweb at the time, seemed to be quite 'typical' I know you can't compare, but I will, the wifes Altezza, in the last 7yrs/60,000km we've owned it (120k all up) it's had: Front lower balljoints 1 coil Set of spark plugs and preventative maintenance (water pump / cam belt / regular oil changes)
