Congrat's Michael, nice milestone to notch up. So what did you end up with on the cert. plate re: suspension & wheels?
-
I just don't get why they need to put so many Zorst tips on M-cars......
-
My initention was something like this: c/o Bimmerforums Can't find the pics of the mounting / attachments sorry, but it's pretty simple from memory.
-
My 2c = Paint. Powder coating often has a thick/cartoon-esque look to thngs, esp. on the like of the RS centres whcyh have a bit of detail.
-
Pulled a box of Tilton goodies out of the cupboard this evening. Started assembling the pedal box....
-
I know I'm a bit slow out of the blocks, but my 2c, for something a bit different... Either a Toyota 3RZ + Turbo, OR A stroked 4G63 (2.3l Crower / HKS kit or the cheapo 4G64 crank). Looking forward to see what you conjure up, your rota's looked pretty schmick!

Just manually add the bbcode insert web address for image[*/img] remove the * Keen for update incase you didn't notice *lol*
-
The ONLY things I would change would be: De-badge, leave the roundell of course. Change the wheels, 17x8.5" Style 32's on all four corners.
-
Well done, as others have said, looks awesome. Word of advise, when you cert it, make sure you have as many wheels you want to run available. As they note the size on the plate, which means you cannot legally use anything else (dumb part of the system). Either that, or if the suspension is all OEM (or OE replacement) and thus doesn't need to be cert'd, discuss if those fields (along with the rims) can remain blank, to retain the OEM flexibility.

Thats a lot of 'if's for an old car. It's easy to check rather than just assume, what people do when the DO know what they are doing

Cheap & Easy Brake Upgrades For E30
E30-323ti replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Massive does a 300x32mm 'rally' setup for under 15" wheels, uses a 2pc rotor & Wilwood 4pots. Also does matching rear brakes to keep things balanced. Plenty of people have done the VW Sirocco 280x22 rotors with S4/5 RX-7 calipers, and fit under 15's. Needs brackets made of course, and trhe centre bore of the rotor taken out 1mm. For bolt-on, a Stock E36 5 Lug swap will get you bigger rotors and calipers front & rear (still single pot, but bigger pads up front). E46 328 calipers/rotors are 300mm and fit the E36, may squeeze under some 15's. You'd need the +96 M3 Control arms, Offset CAB's, front struts and Compact trailing arms. -
Get a proper wheel alignment where they centre the rack and reset the steering wheel. My E30 tramlines a fair bit, but as 3Pedals said, is due to toe-out, lots of -ve camber and big tyres, but it's only used on the road to get to the track

Looks mint, can't be that hard to resolve those minor issues... Has it got a cert for the M30 conversion?
-
OT: Do you need 6 gears with a turbo'd M30B34?? A 4spd ex.Nascar Dogbox (GeForce G101) would be the ticket.

Stop it.... You're just making me sad I do not have any disposable $$$ If only I could convince the wife buying and running a 2nd car was more cost effective than taking the train, but even my Jedi mind tricks aren't THAT good. GLWS and hopefully you don't regret it.
-
If you are well versed in tearing down, reassembling and most importantly resetting a diff, then it would be no problem. The resetting is the part that is beyond me, setting pinion depth, bearing preload, backlash etc.... And this will all be affected if you change the centre, as it may sit differently in the side bearings, and the crownwheel offset may differ. All very minutely of course.
-
The LSD centre can be 'swapped' between any Medium Case Diff (typ 188). BUT, it is not quite as simple as unbolt the crown wheel and stick another crown wheel on it and away you go. As all the bearings will need to be adjusted to suit, which I wouldn't DiY.

Going off a very rough memory, but 'Advanti Mamba' rings a bell...
-
+2 I ran (16's) 225/45's on the rear and 205/50's on the front once upon a time. Have also ran 225/50's on the rear, but are a bit huge.
-
Should give a bit more space then. What size turbine housing did you go for on the Big-Block M30? 16 or 18cm² I was sure I had a better pic, but here is a bit of a side view of the WG port, comes off the collector at 45°

Those are some mad skilz that (I think) only a fellow Dad can truely appreciate. Better not let my 4yo see/hear about any magical 'no more nails' he already tries to hold his little universe together with Sellotape, last week he went through a couple of rolls and then the wife let him loose with my duct tape, building an optimus prime costume. And I think I need to buy some more 'boxes'
-
Nice, 'liked' c/o the wife Surprised that beautiful manifolds fits with the RHD Steering Box.... FYI: Below is how I placed the wastegate on my manifold (twin scroll HX also) after consultation with Crunchy. Is a single tial MVR-44 with split running up to the valve face.
-
That sound - give me shivers (or it could be the southerly)
-
Something more like this. Cheap and quality. You would want the 0.82ar turbine hsg. TA3410
-
Well, is it someone on here?? Where's the build thread.
