    bravo, not sure about his problem, but mine i suspect has to be diff related, because the clutch is fairly new, like a year old and i havent been driving it much (all though its possible my rear main seals are leaking, is it possible for oil to leak onto the clutch) ? i have no idea. Any one know who to talk to for bushes (for the diff, nd trailing arm etc?) might as well do it when i put my 325 motor in the new e30 shell
  2. yeah all good, opps on the e36, had just finished work at 5am !! haha. ray will get me a transmission that will bolt straight on, but on rays comment about the lock out valve, wondering what will this "thing" or bearing look like, if it supposably needs replacing, so i dont have to get a new transmission. Some one give me some hints, ill be able to find it, once i jack my car up, but knowing whether its worn or fine is a different story Cheers,

Since im chucking my engine in a different shell i thought i might aswell do other things to it aswell e.g. i am getting a lsd for my e30 325i etc Wondering whether i could get a boost in hp by chucking some bigger injectors on it maybe 328i injectors ? or 535i injectors ? Im no car mechanic and usually have no idea when it comes to the logic or factors so Am i wasting my time looking into this? or are there any easy (ish) things i can do to increase the amount of fuel intake then i can look into the induction side of things Any thoughts cheers

Ray, i have plenty of more things im going to buy off you so even if the transmission is fine, ill let you know when i need that lsd for my e30 front bumper etc, ill think of more things haha not to mention most of my friends have bmw's now, and ive let them know that your the man to talk to for bmw parts Cheers, give you a buz on monday and see whats happening with that pipe can get it off brent if your busy up there let you know how the transmission problem goes

Hi there the 325i is getting a little too zippy for my liking, so ive purchased a 1989 automatic 535i e36 When i bought it i knew there was a transmission problem. didnt care as it was real cheap. problem being, it doesnt reverse, the x owner purchased a transmission of Trademe, and turns out after installing it the car only goes foward in any gear, (but park) I have another transmission lined up, but before i do that, wondering could this be a perfectly good transmission, just not a perfect match? there are some holes on the side of the trans near the flywheel end that look like something could bolt into, so it was just making me wonder The plate on this transmission reads 0839961 getriebe nr 1043010 645 4 HP - 22 zf getriebe gmbh Is this possible, any ways you guys should catch my drift, reakon some one could expand on this just so i know if its poked as well, and so i can make sure i get the right match for my next transmission Cheers
  8. hey guys for my 1989 e34 535i automatic was going to get the part off ray for hellbm but i cant seem to get hold of him if you read this ray could you please txt me or pick up the phone, cause i have the numbers for the transmission i am getting off you cheers dude. But i need a coolant pipe urgent, goes from the water pump down some where (have no idea what to) its just a short and stubby pipe, its in the shape of a quarter circle, or a C cut in half. Anyone know which pipe im talking about any one got one ?? Cheers guys

    jacked car up, had a look round the shifter and started to tighten bolts on the drive shaft mount ONLY to realise there were 2 missing, and the another one loose, so who ever touched the drive shaft last i might have a word to, because they also didnt tighten the fan blades, broke my door handle, and broke my bonnet latch . . . SO yeah, i tightened the loose one, and the noise has stopped!! must get new bolts, at some point, THANK YOU FOR POINTING ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION again .. . . . . You guys are awsome

    That sounds like a plan, ive been experimenting while driving, since ive taken the center console out to have a look, i can pull the shifter up while changing gears and have no problem what so ever, so obviously some thing has come loose and is grinding against maybe the drive shaft. What exactly would have come loose might i ask, so i know exactly what to look at? when you say cheap fix, whats going to need replacing? I have almost had enough of jacking my car up and becoming a car mechanic, lol

    yeah well it changes gears fine, its just as if somethings loose in neutral is grinding against it. What exactly am i looking at ? and i going to have go under the car or and i just taking the center console out and checking it out how much it cost to get syncros done?? what the worst case senario lol

    HELP !

    Hi there i will try and describe the problem as best as i can hopefully some one will recognise this I have a 325i, e30 Manual, 1986 it just started happening, there is a severe tapping/grinding noise coming from where the gear stick is i am hoping that it is just some stupid bolt that has come loose. But when i get past 60 kmh, if i do not have the gears jammed in (e.g. applying force and holding them in) then there will be a very loud GRINDING NOISE, also some what power full, some times at 100kmh it is hard changing from 3rd to 4th gear cause the vibration as it passes neutral is so strong. And as the speed increases, so does the grinding. Heres something, lets say im doing 20kmh foward, put the clutch in and press the gear lever to the left, the position before pushing it into reverse, it makes the same noise, just not as powerfull and not as fast. could this be a clue? Any help, i am really worried its my transmission on its way out, since the Grinding is getting worse or could it just be a loose bolt some where under the center console?? Cheers guys
  13. hey guys in taking engine mounts off to do the sump i encountered something wierd so im undoing them from the top, and i go to crack one of the nuts and it turns out the whole bolt it was attached to broke so now my engine is sitting on only 1 engine mount is this that serious ? what will i need to fix it ? weld it ? has any one run into this before ?? cheers

  15. i just replaced my oil sump, at home on the drive way what a mission feeling a sense of accomplishment since i aint a car mechanic bolt everything back up again and go to start the car and WOAH !!!! SUPPRISE SUPPRISE it does not start !!!! FFS there is definately battery power the stereo goes all the lights on the dash light up there are no blown fuses . . . . . . etc etc but no crank no clicking noise no nothing when i go to start it . . . . So what the f#@#$, Sorry bout the language, but ive had enough of this bull crap. fix one problem to face another

Im thinking about buying a 535i, you may have seen this one on trademe got a buy now of 1000 but ill probably nly wanna pay 600 - 800. its auto and the trans is just on its way out since im gunna have to get another transmission i might as well spend more money and convert it Im really keen to get it changed to manual, but finding a conversion kit might be a bit of a mission maybe you guys know some people with the parts needed any assistance would be great? any one to call with some ideas

Hey guys ok so my car starts fine, accellerate fine, but after 15 minutes of so of driving i would encounter this . . .. : (i will try and explain) The car will have trouble accelerating past 5000 rpm with out severe juddering or the engine dying If i keep running it the problem will get worse and eventually not start at all. I replaced the external fuel pump, and the problem was not so bad, but still died round 5000 rpm etc Could the fuel filter be seriously blocked ?? Can that actually cause the car to die completely as i just thought it slowed it down. and 2ndly, i was reading up on a previous post a while ago about older models have a internal pump also, to keep the external pump primed (sometimes a great whining noise will come from the back seat i think it might be the pump). (i have a 1986 325i prefacelift) Can some one try and diagnose this problem, i am just hoping it is some thing as stupid as my fuel filter. Cheers guys
  18. hey guys, trust old jap engines to do this, ma bmw engine is bullet proof but . . on the off chance some one has a mazda engine (not through trademe) anything 1300? 1500? 1600 dohc? anyone has a engine, or knows where to get one? cheers guys . . .. maybe i should rwd ma mazda nd put a bmw motor in it lol
  19. hey guys Bare with me on this one ill try and explain as much as possible the cars been acting a bit wierd lately took it for a bit of a test drive in the wet the other day as im fixing bits and pieces. usually if i put the throttle down while going round a corner i can get both wheels spinning and drift but now i have one wheel forever spinning. (it never used to do this) Some one a while ago said that my 325i may have come out with a lsd? could this be the problem? that my lsd needs fixing? Or if i have a standard open diff does that mean my diff is poked ? Sometimes when cold i have a whining noise in the back? Diff fluid replacing ? What are the specs of a 1986 E30 325i? recently ive had a clutch job on it, and there is now oil leaking in the gap between the trans and bell housing could this be the problem (rear main seals), that oil is leaking onto the clutch making it slip? Sorry if this is a bit confusing, im not mechanically minded so just trying to feed you guys with enough info but do you guys have any idea on what this problem could be ? New diff? Diff fluid replacing? Oil leaks

  21. hey guys aparantly you need the one for the exact model ive checked all the local wreckers and bimmer people and no one has one that will fit. some one said i should just buy one new i have a massive hole in my air intake pipe (between the airflow meter and manifold) (so what i thought could have been trans was some thing stupid, finally i found it ) ive taped it up for the moment, and all goes well but i want a replacement one my cars a E30 1986 325i any one got a air intake pipe? any one wrecking a car like that ? cheers any help would be good thanks guys

  23. it starts whining (when cold) when i start moving. mite pay to replace diff fluid tried throtlling round corners at all soughts of speeds. but the only problems im having is when im going slow in first gear. if im going like 20 in first and plan the foot no problems but it seems anywhere below that speed too much power will put it into a bunny hop ? so no gears gone? just the diff on the way out ? what sought of price am i looking at ? does any one have a solution ? maybe i should invest in my lsd now ? cheers guys
  24. hey guys when i start the car and the engine and stuff is cold theres a whining noise, i think from the back ? could that be the diff? could this be part of the previous problem i have ? if i try and idle in first gear it puts the car into a major bunny hop ? sound any thing familiar? thanks guys
