  1. The one in the topic is referring to the bulbs which give an 'egg yolk' look, because on cars with clear indicators you need an amber bulb to produce an amber light so the amber shows through the clear indicators. So to get rid of the 'egg yolk' look people get bulbs that are amber underneath but have a silver coating on the outside, so they still flash amber. While normal (clear) bulbs are used in amber indicator housings because the amber housing will turn the light amber anyway. You can do that for any car that uses amber bulbs but it will have no effect whatsoever on a car that has amber indicator housings (ie: yours).
  2. Seeing that there was a hesitation when the car was actually going, I doubt it's the idle control valve. I would check hoses for vacuum leaks, and use the opportunity to replace any hoses that are old and squishy.
  3. It's a 2002 model year car so it's advertised correctly - the 'production year' is 2001. Which other topic are you referring to?
  4. 2001 onwards got the angel eyes. As for amber vs clear, it depends on the country/year/model. IMHO, the amber angel eyes don't look bad at all, sure the clear looks a bit better but it's much less amber than some other BMWs, ie: E36, etc.
  5. I don't think it's a surface coating, looks like the actual plastic is orange - so sanding wouldn't make it clear. As for the kit, it's up to you really - would not buy fibreglass kits though.

    Project 325i

Interesting effect now that you mention it... the wheels do look a bit bigger. I actually thought the BMW emblems were actual centrecaps! So the centrecaps you have on now are just blank, right?

    328ci E46

Looking good The Viaduct is a nice location for pics.
  8. E39s are great cars The dark blue 540 looks much nicer. Just the sat nav and what looks like HIDs will be worth a bit. Would look even better with facelift lights and aluminium interior trim. The light blue is just not aggressive enough, as you said looks like a grandfather's or lady's car.
  9. Cheers Ron, that's cleared it up for me.
  10. They are certainly nice wheels - I've had moments where I thought I'd take them over stock E39 M5 wheels. That said, really depends on the look you're after. If we're going to talk about the 'ultimate' wheel for the E39... BBS RS-GT or some nice dished Schnitzers are right up there in my book.
  11. I'm confused by your question - what do you mean
  12. Yeah. I think the easiest way to put it is, the lower the offset the more the wheel moves out - don't think about it in absolute values but as a negative to positive scale.

    Well I never

Should take a PXT phone out and snap them while driving and see what they say If it's still legal I suppose I can't blame them much as I'd like to say they aren't setting a good example.
  14. Not too clued up on the E46, but does that only apply to pre-facelift?
  15. Since you're in Auckland, check with Glenn @ Botany Motorworx.

I thought it might be Usana. Have seen the Merc around since awhile back and saw the yellow Ferrari for the first time last week.
  18. Glenn, thought I should point out - should be 'Independent'.

    Porsche

Who doesn't like Porsches? I too don't know much about them but want to have one someday. They're beautiful cars and from what I've heard they're the ultimate driver's car, anyone know if that's true? Would you rather have a Porsche or a Ferrari?
  20. Welcome D. Your car looks mint, especially the interior, it looks brand new. I like the headlights
  21. The 8 is definitely still a head turner, at least for me - the view from the rear is especially good
  22. I think that roof lining is hot. What a nice car, looks really well taken care of. Was there an 840 csi though??
