Ok so this is going to be one of those things that everybody except me knows! But I've searched the net and I really can't find any reference to it. It's the thing in the middle of the pic on the back of the manifold, some kinda vacuum duhicky I suspect? I actually need to know what the little yellow tube (presumably some kind of vacuum tube) does. It was basically disconnected and the original small braided piece of hose connecting it to the thing on the intake manifold was heavily cracked. Again, I can't find any reference to it. I've replaced the braided hose with a piece of tube but I'l replace this with something more appropriate if advised. Sorry to go on, all help appreciated. Cheers.

Hey I went out there this morning and it's not there! I asked the staff but they couldn't really give me an answer, best guess was that someone had come along and bought the whole car. Maybe E34 can have another look over the weekend and I'll keep an eye on their website to see if it pops up again. Sorry mate, I was looking for some bits from it too! Cheers.

I'll head out there this morning. Give me a shout on 021971699 if you need to. Hopefully it's still there! Cheers

Which part number is it on the attached picture?

Should be fine as long as you use the same grade / type.

Hi everybody Just letting anyone whose interested know that there is a manual E34 being wrecked at Pickapart in Lower Hutt. Looks like it has been in a medium frontal buts its a manual 525i so there should be some good parts for anyone after a manual conversion. Also another E34 (now missing some brake parts!) and about 3 E36's. Cheers

Thanks Brent, Appreciate the offer but I'm in Wellington. Anyone in Welly with an E28 I can have a look at? Cheers

Thanks, I actually have a spare tail light, but what to do then? Do I just reach in and fumble around with the latch mechanism? Cheers

Help. My e28 525e has decided to lock me out of the boot. The central locking is still working - I can hear and feel it 'locking and unlocking' but it's obviously lost a connection between that and the mechanism that actually opens the damn thing. Is there a secret hidden way to get back into the boot and then figure out what is going on? Otherwise best suggestion for my next move? Locksmith? BMW dealer? Please please help - my cell phone is in there!!!!!!!!!! Cheers

Is it possible that who ever did the last oil change was a bit messy and let some spill down onto one of the covers under the engine? If they did, parking on a steep angle could have let some run down onto the driveway. Might be worth checking anyway. Cheers

I know towbars are useful, it's just that I always felt these were like 4 door supercars, and to add the weight to such well balanced cars always seemed a bit of a shame to me. Kinda like putting a towbar on a Porsche or Ferrari. Maybe I'm being a bit precious...

I've always wanted on of these and it's a manual. Stupid financial crises! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=200717059

I saw that on trademe. Really liked it, then saw the towbar! On an M5? And there's an E34 M5 on TM too... with a towbar! I know that it's kinda practicle, but for me its just not right. Still, wouldn't think twice if I had the folding stuff!

I thought you could trace the paint and interior codes from the VIN or am I wrong?

Just slightly off (but still on) the subject, I downloaded a later Haynes manual for the E30, E28, and E34, then compared the torque specs for the lower control arms to the specs in my old paper Haynes manual for the 520i and 525e. The torque specs in the later (downloaded) manual are nearly twice those in the old paper one! Could this explain why I've been chewing through control arm bushes???

Tell ya what, I've recently had some brilliant service for Powerhaus on Tinakori Road (Wellington). They know their stuff and their hourly rate is not bad either. I think thats where I'll be heading. The guy (Mike) in their parts department was very good too. Got my control arm bushes quickly and for a good price. All round, happy.

Classic! What a f**king disaster!

It looks like a genuine Motorsport M535i to me. I'm buying a Lotto ticket tomorrow....

Just in case anyone was about to rush out to their BMW dealer and stock up on E28 lower control arm bushes they had quoted me the wrong part. It was for the upper arm bushes. Still, probably not a bad price, just was for me. Lower bushes around $140 each. Damn. Cheers

Hi folks, The intake boot thing which connects between the AFM to the throttle body has large splits in it and I need a new one. I think this shape is post 1985 and has the idle control valve on the left upper side. The E30 325 ones look the same but I can't confirm that. According to Realoem this part was only fitted to the ETA engined cars but I don't know maybe they were fitted to other M20s. Anyway the part number is 13711707785 and its part number 8 in the attached picture. Cheers
