  1. http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classi...php/carno/77598 I really like it!
  2. Sorry to kinda highjack your thread but I have a 1987 525e and I seem to have a similar problem with intermittent high idle. Would the troubleshooting be the same as the 320? Cheers
  3. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....;hl=sunroof+e28This is my one. I picked one up from pickapart in really good nick. The whole assembly is actually pretty easy to take out although you do end up with stuff you don't need that way but at least you know you've got everything. The whole assembly costs $39. Do the google search and you'll find it pretty easily. Well worth doing, especially if like me and most E28 owners your sunroof is rusty.
  4. Spotted a few things at Pickapart in Lower Hutt today which might be of interest to someone on here. An E30 with a front lip. The car is in poor nic as you can see but the lip appeared intact apart from needing a good clean. Don't know if it's desirable or not, just putting it out there. Boot spoiler with stop light on E30. Pretty sun damaged but not broken. Would probably come up great with a good paint job. E36 318is. Was manual but gearbox gone. Other than that most other parts seem to be there although I couldn't get inside to see if the pedals etc were still there. Saab 9000 sedan with glass sunroof. Didn't have a thorough look but at a glance it looked ok. Glass sunroofed E28 anyone? Hopefully someone might be able to at least grab the two spoilers before they go to the crusher. Would love to here how you get on if you do. Cheers.
  5. This isn't actually on Trade Me but I saw it today and had to take a pic. You can't tell from this photo but the rear drums are painted hot yellow. That is impressive. Not as impressive however, as the green front spot lights. Just wow.
  6. If you need to swap between cars then a visor mounted one is really your best option and the Uniden seemed to rate well. If you don't need to swap, get a hard wired kit. 100 times better and you can still use the visor. Sure you have to install it but I think most people on this site should be able to do it. If you've ever installed a car stereo you can easily do a bluetooth kit. There are a few new and second hand kits on trademe at the mo.
  7. Nope, not feeling it. Looks like it was designed by an American... teenager.
  8. Five hottest? According to who?Actually I like that guy from Trade me. Usually talks sense. I think I'm warming to that car just a little. The install actually looks rather good, it's the seats and that intercooler that bug me. I guess I'm just old fashoined but for me BMW's have always been about talking softly but carrying a big stick or wolf in sheeps clothing if you know what I mean. I kinda like the idea, just not the execution.

    e28 radiator

Check with Brent. He has lots of parts. I've bought from him in the past and he is good to deal with. If your 'e' has air con those radiators are getting pretty rare I believe. Sorry I can't be more help.

  11. Started installing my 'new' Blaupunkt Toronto RDM 126 head unit today. Aside from having to make up a custom Aux cable everything was going well. I tested everything and audio was coming through the speakers loud and clear. Went inside to finish making up my cable, came out and started hooking everything up only to find that now there is no audio being outputted from the unit. Actually that's not entirely true. I hooked up a test speaker and if I put my ear to it with the volume right up I can just hear it. What the hell is going on? I haven't done anything different to when I tested it. Could I have accidentally shorted something? I checked the only fuse I can find and its ok. This appears to be an output stage problem as the rest of the unit is still working fine. Any suggestions? Cheers.
  12. Thanks guys. Yeah it appears there are tabs on both sides of the pin. I've tried to remove them but with zero success. I've moved on to plan B which is making a Aux cable with new pins. Cheers for your help.
  13. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-248733479.htm Dear god. Why?
  14. Hi guys I've been trying for a while now to remove 2 of the pins from the plug in the pictures. As you can see I have tried. It's not ruined yet and I'd really rather not. I'm trying to swap them out to the other end of the plug to use the AUX input. It's from a Toronto RDM126. I thought there was a little tap on the top of the pin inside the connector but try as I might I can't get it or make the pin budge. Damn Germans! I know I can just get some other pins if necessary but I'd like to do it this way if I can. Cheers for any help. *PS if anybody has one of these connectors lying around that they don't want that would be helpful to. Cheers.
  15. About 15 years ago I used to catch the bus into Wellington from Karori. Every morning a guy would drive down Karori Road in a Holden Sunbird. It was a very nice Sunbird (relatively speaking, I guess it could have been a Torana) but I can still remember the sound of the engine. Definitely a Six but dear god it sounded nice. Super smooth, powerful and with a nice but subdued raspy exhaust tone. It was a well loved machine ($$$). Didn't sound like an old Holden six but who knows, all I remember is that it was the sweetest engine I had ever heard.
  16. Glad to hear. I got the hex screws sorted. I only have the 750i fronts on so far and stock master cylinder but already the brakes are so much better. Even my partner noticed! The only issue I have now is that I currently have too much front bias and the front locks up to easily, although some new tyres would probably help too. But already I can tell that when the rears are on the thing will stop on a Dim!
  17. I bought one new from BMW. Around $80 ex Germany from memory. Wasn't much more expensive than second hand.
  18. Jez, I think I opened a can-a-worms! I should have been clearer and read one of the previous posts more clearly. I realised later that a stock setup with a turbo probably wouldn't double the power (easily / cheaply) and reading on realised that swapping with a 325i head, intake, TB and AFM would probably make it a whole lot easier too. I guess the reason I made the comparison with a turbo diesel is because my car would still be a daily driver. The reality for me is that even with the 4500 rpm redline I very rarely get up there. I like the idea of a car that does pretty much what the 525e was designed to do, just with (preferable lots) more grunt. I guess I'm the kind of driver who prefers lots of midrange torque to high end power. On a related subject, how much power can a ZF 4Hp22 handle. I'd like to do a manual conversion someday but in the meantime... BTW I appreciate everybody who contributes to these forums. Even if they are not necessarily seasoned experts, if they have any experience with a modifying their BMW I'm interested to hear what they have to say - as long as it's constructive! Cheers

    Rusted E28

Anyone know how he did the headlights?
  20. But who can blame me? http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3235336 I think this is sex on wheels.
  21. Jesus, everybody makes it sound like she was some kind of dictator and somehow forced every politician to vote in support of every piece of legislation she introduced. How many political party's didn't support the Anti Smacking Law? One? And how many of you voted for that party? From memory it was Act. What did they poll at the last election? One point something percent. Surely if you are going to be angry be angry at every politician who voted in favour and helped pass the legislation. That's about 98% of them. Chances are you and I elected them.
