  1. and 12k is realistic? when you bought it for what, 5.5k? its a good car, keep it. projects are money pits
  2. thats pretty tall..would go a 3.25 or 3.46...although thinking about it 2.93 prob not too bad
  3. yes, they do. search r3v and e30tech, there heaps of info out there. also glenn has done his site, ubersaloons.co.nz
  4. and your telling me your surprised? im just impressed its a shade of orange and some bits got masked!
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VihIf1Fi-BM ah, the gems you find on a Sunday morning
  6. seriously, buy my one and give it a respray. thats rust in the roof....thats seriously bad and to me sign of cut corners and general shitness otherwise looks pretty tidy, but nothing too special? would bet $5 that the 2.7 is done badly and is slow
  7. i didnt need to take the sump off, if i remember right, just take the seal carrier off by unbolting and using a screwdriver on the tabs then just use a screwdriver and a hammer to tap it off (CAREFULLY! Do not scratch the seal housing, its easy to) put the new seal in, making sure the lip is facing inside (have done it backwards before haha) and reseal including a good gasket sealant failing that, use a BIG hammer
  8. starting off with a mint shell is the best idea, as long as you happy with a four door. money wise, i would pay 3-4K for a really nice straight car, even a 318. from what i have heard, the m52 would be the better option...not hard to tune it up to similiar sort of power and MUCH easier to wire in than the m54. could be wrong though. let me know if you have trouble getting a manual box, there a loads over here that arent too expensive. shipping shouldnt be too bad either. project sounds great...you could just keep the 36 compact and work on that? would be easier to get brakes for (already 5 lug), just need a manual swap really and more power! haha cant believe i am advising not an e30! keep us updated. would be interested to see what your car is worth, as i have no idea....have trouble even speculating!
  9. http://www.mininova.org/tor/988894 its a torrent, i am permanently seeding it, the more people who can download it and do so too the easier it is to get quite an interesting bit of bedtime reading!

    HELP!!

andrew found the same with my car, i think the alternator died for some reason being stored
  11. http://www.mininova.org/tor/976011 good so far!
  12. some will, most dont it will bolt straight on, most in NZ are 3.64. if your 320 has a small case diff you will need to change the half shaft seals (easy) although you might struggle getting sideways in a 320!
  13. interestingly though, a lot of the UK evo guys seem to have trouble making quoted power...apparently quite common for them both to be around the same power, esp if the 3.0 has a couple of mods. having a 6speed box would sure help i imagine! and, both cars seem to be around similar prices over here.
  14. i wont go into the 5's, although the m30 is good for boost a facelift 325 (M325 is ideal but will eat up most of your budget) is best, as long as it is not NZ new. it needs to have the 8.8:1 pistons and you can run a decent amount of boost. stand alone management is a must, a simple log manifold and correctly sized turbo will do the trick 5-8k is pretty slim, but i am sure you could make something to have fun in or go for a M10 Pre FL 318....they go really well turbo (well they can do, an example, in the states a guy with a 2L from 2002 built m10 and forged pistons ran a 13.6. plus are super cheap to come by (engines are v v cheap for when they go bang)
  15. pretty sure its no e10, just e12 and e14
  16. I was stunned to hear the news Jock was a real inspiration for everyone in giving a lesson on how to live life. I will never ever forget his attitude and outlook on life, something that so many people could learn from. He will remain a true legend for me. He will be sorely missed and remembered often. Goodye my friend Jock, I wish I was there to see you off. It would be great to see BS do something nice for the kids over Xmas. Much Love Gus and Pamela

modified with a hacksaw? i want
  21. cheers guys...just curious. still have no idea what im going to do with my car, if i am keeping it a full e36 m3 would be a nice donor car, at least i can see if everything works. all the parts adds up to the purchase price quite well, they are good value here an e34 m5....quick ebay reveals prices from about 2-3k to £7k....a big range but i imagine around the same as the e36 its just e30 m3s are my dream car, however so damn expensive for what they are (£7-9k for anything decent) because of collectability. although if i got one here i could keep it LHD which is nice. and they are hard to get anything in NZ thats not jap. tough choices andy would it HAVE To be dual airbag, even being a personal car? im sure some of the evo models are dual airbag anyway, its just that price goes up a bit
  22. e36 m3s are pretty cheap over here....how hard would it be to import one? i take it would have to be 96+ and i would pay GST...anything else to watch out for? i could get a decent one for around £4k + shipping of around £1k (maybe more, who knows) and it works out pretty good to get it back thoughts? this is mainly so i can steal bits off it for an e30!
