While I realise you're trying to avoid going to a BMW workshop, you've already spent a lot of money to no avail. Where in NZ are you based? If you're in Auckland, there are a fair few BMW specialists here on the forum that can help you...

Have a look at the detailing world forum, there's heaps of info there- if you are going to do it yourself, maybe try a random orbital/ dual action polisher? Not as fast, will take longer, but chances of damaging the paintwork are much reduced... even minor defects will shows up like dog's balls on a black car though, especially when it's clean! Can you take some close up shots of the worst areas at a bit of an angle to show the damage? Curious to see how bad a job they did! Have you hit the polishers up about the job at all? edit Wom, where is your mate's business? I may be requiring their services soon... one place next to me I looked at using, and then walked away once I say they were using brushes on the paintwork...

Apologies for the n00b question, but would putting the larger front brakes onto the rear affect the brake bias between between the front and rear? I mean, M power I imagine is looking at a racing application, but how would this work on the street? Would any modifications be required for the brake cylinders? Would certing be involved?

Thanks guys, I'd forgotten all about this! So looking at the two sites, what range of harness would rubber and polyurethane bushings be? I mean, if there are 75D bushes, how much harder from there would be too hard and too soft? I mean, would 75D be used for racing, and if not, what generally would be? What sort of rating would OEM rubber bushes be in direct comparison with poly bushes? (I know that they're on a different rating as they are rubber, but obviously they are used as they are harder, hence the question). Thanks!

True, but bear in mind that GST is a tax on consumption of goods within New Zealand, so if you import it here, you're consuming it here... $50 is the administrative limit at which it is considered worth imposing...

Work was rubbish, and I lost a family member. Bought a 535 with an utterly knackered body. But it was a HD12 with M5 kit, leather sport seats, LSD and a manual gearbox, so now I have a project. Oh, and I got married and we now have an awesome baby girl. 2009 was a great year for me, but 2010 will be a great one too!

So Brent, those are the same wheels with both the throwing stars and the turbine covers? The covers are interchangeable?
