[hangs head][still smiling and laughing about it though]

Or Napier for that matter- last time I went clubbing there, their equivalent of mixing was to turn one CD off and put the other one on...
-
Which makes it just that little bit more sad... I was going to say that hoodrats writing off their Beemers = win, but even then, it's still a Beemer gone...... unless it's a compact lol

Off to the UK- anything I should get for Beemer?

F*** me, that is APPALLING![Makes mental note to not go near Anglo Pacific... ever] Nowadays that would be a 50-page forum thread in itself- people from all over the world would be joining Bimmersport, sympathising and hoping you deal to them... Trying to accentuate the positive though, what kind of wheels are they on the 7? I was looking at a picture of a 5-series with those on and thinking that they looked awesome... Funny, I saw a Seat Cupra with similar rims and thought 'darn, those wheels look cool, I sonder if I can get a set for the 5'... and then I saw some other pics with the OEM rims- woo-hoo! Those and the throwing star wheels... [starts saving $$$ required!] lol -

Alas, here in the UK, and spent my time with family rather than buying stuff for Beemer- not enought time to source bushes lol Don't really care at the mo- family is more important. Having said that, can anyone recommend any good shipping companies for UK - NZ? I know Brent has shipped/ is shipping stuff already, anyone used any companies over here? I'm getting the beginnings of an idea, need to know if it's feasible... cheers! -

I thought I recognised that photo- see here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E30-Bav...sQ5fAccessories If this is the same outfit (certainly same price), shipping will be US$277.65. US$562.77 + US$277.65 = US$840.42 = NZ$1250-1300, and that's excluding currency exchange charges... You might also want to check eBay UK, and the other thread on shipping from the US- I think they recommended Kiwi shipping? -
What about tow bars? Most Falcon/ Commodore owners would have one wouldn't they? I can't say I've ever identified a U/C police car with one...

Beginner's guide to Sway/ Anti-Roll Bars please?

Cheers- I have calipers already, but figured it would be good if I knew what and where to measure, especially if I didn't need calipers! lol -

Bellicose- lol re: angel eyes- I'm in two minds about them TBH, but depends on the car and its overall look I guess. You certainly couldn't stick them on a stock 5-er, but with a kit and lowered...? It's on the 'to look at' list... definitely getting some decent rear lights and clear indicators though! Creaver- saving $12 + shipping Hey, just getting options- I'll be getting NZ prices beforehand too! Kiwi535- dunno, mine looks similar to yours, although in not nearly as good a nick... will check tomorrow. OEM mats or a particular firm? I know I need mats for my car, so will have a look. Just checked price for headers on fritzsbits- 430gbp is a bit out of my budget at the mo... maybe next year! lol Definitely thinking bushes, maybe mats, rear lights if I can get a good price, possibly an M5 plate surround for the boot... keeping on looking- ebay for ideas at the mo! -

Brent and Marty- Jeez guys, I have two weeks! lol Talking of which, I'm still going ahead with the reshell (obviously! lol), but keeping to a budget at the mo, so it will be a while still... Marty, I can ask my brother in law about Beemer parts and if he knows anywhere that has or sell them. Headers eh? Hmmm don't think I'll get them through as carry on! lol Penry/ Kiwi39touring- will have a look around, but mines a motorsport one- already have an Mtech1 steering wheel and M5 bodykit 8) Need to check the anti roll bars though... Seriously, I was already figuring Powerflex bushes (http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=23620)- 174GBP on eBay... And I'll get some pitman arms too- cheers bellicose! I wouldn't mind some decent angel eyes and rear lights, but they may have to wait... would rather get my car on the road first, and bling can wait. Cheers guys, keep 'em coming! -
Hi everyone, since I'm off to the UK next week, I'm looking at buying a few bits for my 535: http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=23618 I'm considering buying some powerflex bushes, but I need to know the size of the anti-roll bars I have- I'm sticking with OEM, but they have different sizes for the E34- 23,24+25mm for the front anti-roll bar, and 15+18mm for the rear anti-roll bar. So, how do I measure them? Do I measure the circumference and do the math or use a pair of calipers? (Or I could look for a model number on them lol - d'oh!) Assuming I have to measure them, where is the best place to measure? And from a performance point of view, I assume the bigger the better? Thanks for your help

Hey everyone, I'm having to go to the UK next week for family reasons. I have a manual 535 that I will be reshelling and freshening up. Are there any parts I should consider getting while I am over there? e.g. bushes, consumables like brakes/ filters/ clutches, rare OEM parts, performance parts, etc? I'm figuring consumables aren't a go (similar price and too heavy), but it pays to ask... Any suggestions would be much appreciated- cheers!

[starts to make wishlist for stuff he wants/ 'needs' ]Cheers for that, will send you a PM shortly. While I find this useful, ironically enough I was going to post a similar thread for axle stands- I know they just, well, stand there propping up the car, but then the Super Cheap ones have had heaps of safety recalls, and I just can't rate the Powerbuilt ones after reading about their tool quality... let's face it, if the worst happens, it's not like you'll be taking them back now, is it? TWL have an offer on Torin jacks, any other decent brands? PS Apologies for the thread hijack!

Good work! Where'd you get them, and for how much?

+1 I'm one of the least PC people around, but VTEC is a term I've been pretty uncomfortable seeing on forums in recent times. Hell, I don't even like saying it (or typing it for that matter). To me it is one of the worst possible crimes, and the idea of using it to describe giving a car a thrashing to me is... poorly chosen. But that's my 2c.

Awesome looking car, and good to hear that Andrew Hollywood are keeping up to their usual standards- I used to go to them when I lived in Napier. Will bear Autoclutch etc in mind when kicking off my project!

Hi, my names Andy and I hoard bits for my car too... [Hi Andy] Oh thank god, I thought it was just me! lol For the Curren I have clear indicators, rear spoiler caps (rare), monsoon visors (very rare), and a TRD exhaust (not made any more), all in boxes waiting to be put on the car... ... and then I bought an E34 with added rust as an option, so now I have another project. I don't think they make a box big enough to put an E34 in, so I'd better finish this one!

Got an eBay link for that please?
-
Jesus, I'm not surpirsed ya didn't find it, I was looking in completely the wrong direction...
-
Is no longer available... from which year do Beemers have the text display needed?

Beau repaires on kent/cambridge terrace have always torqued them on with a wrench whenever I've been there, no idea about TTS though. What I get annoyed with though is the "this is the best price we can do for you sir"- how anyone can try starting their prices at $260 a tyre, and then in the end reduce it to $190 is beyond me, especially when I went down the road and got the same tyres at $160... how about some realistic pricing tyre guys? Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I do feel better for getting that off my chest...

Hey Henry, I've just read all nine pages of this- awesome work! It's certainly given me heaps of ideas and pointers for my forthcoming project, although I think my bdget is now far far too small... Keep us posted!

Cheers, I'd already downloaded it, but their site does have a few other articles and websites to go with it that appear quite useful. Cheers!
