Learn me how? :) E39..

Seconded!!!

Also Thanks BMW AG for making the M40B18 the easiest engine ever to work on. Oil + Filter change, power steering fluid flush and change, new thermostat, coolant flush and change all in 2 hours flat...

Last few days:

Gearbox lug removal tool made

Gearbox oil drained and replaced

Steering wheel swapped on coupe

Today:

decided I should resolve why my electric windows weren't working unless the car was on and the door open.

Checked fuses, there we go, 30a fuse blown, replace.. blown again straight away.

YAY a dead short to find.

Eventually found the culprit, turns out that paperclip I discarded a while back in the center console a while back had slipped under the small gap between the ashtray and the odds and ends tray and had shorted out the ciggy lighter.

Removed, swore and replaced fuse

Today - I received complaints from the neibours... about my car cherping at things at night.

I really should wind up that shock sensor....

Got a WoF on the 'vert after it's winter lay-up.

Took it for a drive to blow the cob-webs out

Quick soak and sponge to get the dust off.

Summer's here  !!

Yeah it would the best, I should really learn to weld and keep practicing, would have an ideal skill base then to do whatever.

Since I can't, and don't have the gear, I've been passing on the parts to get welded through a guy I know, it's annoying but he does tidy welds and at a good cost.

Slows things down though.......

It's in the making :P

All will be shown at the end of the month!! The car should go in December sometime...

It should have been done faster than this however. *kicks self*

Took the 4 door manual into the transmission specialist fellas, got them to give it a quick test drive and confirm the gearbox issues.

Dropping it back next week so they can suck a whole lot of money out of me to fix it.

license plate light warnings on the 540.

Hmmm the old LIC plate light message.

Mine used to do that all the time. So annoying, how did you fix it in the end?

Points of failure seem to be the loom at the L/R boot hinge, LKM, and headlight adjustment motors. (adjustment motors might be related to LKM? not sure) Unplugging the motors on both my E34's have fixed all warnings and bing bongs :)

Might get some replacements at some stage, but isnt a priority.
