kwhelan 241 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 yes and no, bit over acted in places, trying a bit too hard, still better than BBC version, nice quick test of M2 clarkson rated it best M car

M3AN 4016 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) "I didn't think it was possible to sh*t yourself to death." - the child in me found that amusing. It's just a Top Gear reboot replica, no better, no worse IMHO. Will be interesting to see how it goes without a mainstay British audience. zero 1162 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 I enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was it felt too scripted and not natural enough. I'm sure they will relax more as the season continues.
Rohil 30 Report post Posted November 20, 2016 A bit too scripted but overall im excited for the coming 12 weeks, the previews look more exciting than this episode was. Not a fan of their driver as such, a bit over done but hey i cant complain much....THE BOYS ARE BACK!
NZ BMW 368 Report post Posted November 20, 2016 I thought it felt a bit slapstick, with a lot of studio time. That being said, it's the launch episode. Will be interesting to see, now that the scene is set what the rest of the series will be like.
KiwiTT 23 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 I watched it on youtube and it was "meh!" ... Did laugh a couple of times.
lord_jagganath 421 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 for all the hype, I was more interested in the studio audience... so..... yeah. The show is back
Albertouy 1 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 Agree with the comments above, lots of scripted stuff, the "fight" with the audience was kind of funny and definitely the most interesting part of the show was Clarkson rating the M2 the best M car ever. But it did feel that it was an introductory first episode and there's gonna be a better flow of the show in the next episodes.

lord_jagganath 421 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 I don't know, the American is grating. the track is meagre, I felt they lost the plot with the Edge of Tomorrow sequence

Pros: looks beautiful. the extra money goes into even greater production quality; must have 20 more colour graders on each episode. at least on my Amazone Prime TV box, tech quality on my TV is great. love their silly circuit. "The American" is kinda funny enjoying that their celeb guests never make it to the studio. Errr, tent. Cons: no new ideas, really. just slightly more "scripted" than Top Gear was. Overall I think it's a big one-fingered salute. They've so much of Jeff Bezos' money to play with, they didn't really need to come up with any genuinely new ideas. The Tent, allows them to mix the global travel of the specials, and maintain a format. Amazon is huge in UK, they're not losing a 'mainstay British audience'. Overall they win; a move to streaming before broadcast TV is dead. Guess I'd better go watch EP3?
NZ BMW 368 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Episode 3 is better, I would like to see some more car reviews which are both entertaining and informative.
lord_jagganath 421 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Ep3 was great, but one can't help but feel that the three have been scripted to be caricatures, rather than multifaceted. nitpicking, sure. but feel it's only fair to be critical.
zero 1162 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 The numbers in this link are very interesting, and quite funny; http://www.driven.co.nz/news/news/how-clarkson-an-co-blew-283-million-trying-to-mow-down-top-gear/
gjm 3258 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 For me, the best TG episode was and is January 24th 2010 when Stig 'stole' Jeremy's SL55 AMG keys and gave his car a hiding 'round the track. That was the pinnacle. Bit downhill since then. With some Koenigsegg highlights.
