Decided I like em. ET38 18x8.5 definitely about the sane limit with these tyres (235/40), maybe et35 and 225s would work if wanted to try push it.

Gave it the mandatory B road blat, kinda scary not knowing where the limit actually is on the Falken RT615k+, particularly as the initial turn in grip on them is insane. Bit more noisey than RE003s but not night and day, but OMG does it feel like it wants to change directions quick, going to be fun tyres.

how are the tyres in the wet?

Not amazing I suspect, few reviews saying they aquaplane in heavy downpours, although are DOT approved.

I wasn't really concerned with your comment, I was just checking, hoping to avoid conflict.

Couple of weeks on these tyres, the grip levels are epic, the front end rails around anything you throw at it at legal speeds. Definitely recommended for a cheapish performance tyre.

No idea on how they are in the wet, or how well they wear, but goddamn grip conquers all :)

Ordered a new radiator and a few more little bits left to swap engines, about all thats left is doing it.

Driven around on various semi's in my old E30 and they will certainly will wear quickly, i don't think i got more than 10,000 with 3 or 4 track days. Yeah grip is next level but very little warning when it goes. They don't age well for road use and usually get slick when tread gets low.

Overkill for the street imo

Yeah, its horse for courses though. The longterm tyre review online for them says 20,000km with a couple of track days (tuned sti wrx). Does it make sense on A-B transport, no. Does it make sense for a toy... arguably :)

Took it on an essential services run south of the border... feels like an achievement. strange days.

Looking fab Chris, lovin' the track look.

I'm assuming, no confirmation required, that "essential services" requires a 100mph speed test... just to make sure the tyres and brakes are up to spec. 😜

Went for a blat around some old forestry roads behind Tauranga, tyres are epic in the twisties :D  Went through a a bit of rain too, nothing sketchy noticed at sane driving speeds on road. The grip limits are so high its hard to find them without driving like a psychopath on public roads.

If you dont care about road noise too much, nor fuel economy, and probably life... the RT615K+s get two thumbs up for me.

Slowly creeping up the 300,000km point to put the fresh engine in, just because I want 300,000km on the OG engine when I pull it apart... for giggles (still runs fine).

Ive also been struggling to find a clutch kit, the current clutch in it has 60,000km on it and is absolutely fine, but seems dumb to not throw a new plate at it when the box and engine are separate (box will be going to KB to freshen up) . Clutch service kit is a Valeo 828533 which is out of stock and backordered everywhere, I suspect the SMF conversion likely is using a clutch from another car with the same splines as BMW (or perhaps an early SMF BMW) , but no idea which, anyone have any ideas on how I could figure out what its from so I can look at other options rather than Valeo?

Don't think id bother myself. 60,000km on a clutch is nothing under normal use.

From what i see no one seems to besides Valeo appears to do a stock standalone sprung clutch for a single mass flywheel.

New little project, give them a good clean and birthday step 1.

Lucked out and the drivers side is the rocking horse sh*t SP-DC top of the line electric everything version.

Got to be the most purposeful, loved and well used E87 going around?

Awesome car mate, looks fantastic with the black and white, although I may be slightly biased, good to hear the positive experience with the rt615k+ tires, will give them a go on my 135i, should fit fine on 18x8 et38 I think.

Cleaned them all up, lots of leather conditioner. Gave the rails a bit of a spruce up (they are Recaro E87 rails, which is cool).

Also drove over the Kaimais today in torrential rain, lots of standing water on road. Tyres arent even a little bit sketchy in the wet, work fine.

Netflix and sew.... went red stitching (and Alcantara) to match the recaros... in hindsight black would be cleverer.

Looks good although not a fan of the stripe. Easy enough to do? Where did you get it from?

Forgot to comment on this but can I send you mine lol

My cover has been sitting on the desk for months, went with the stock style in leather with the perforated hand grips.
