I've seen this (from behind) a couple of times, in a workshop I've passed on the way to work.  Curious.

Wonder how hard it is to put suspension back to standard?

I'll get me coat then...

Typical Q&A warriors talking sh*t with no intention of buying. I kinda agree on the whole, should cert before sale thing, but also know what it's like when you just don't have time to do it. 

Looks like a tidy example though

If the guy got it certed it would be so much easier to sell, or get a higher price.

air suspension on this is just horrible. not enough of these around to wreck one like this.

also - so much attention to detail in other parts and then you look at the number plate mounting...

Depends how it's been done but easier to track down some replacement struts, same sort of set up as e30 so likely to be welded in the front, and then remove the compressor, tank and lines.

Not my thing but its the E12 suspension design so maybe not to worse thing you could do to it. Yeah looks tidy on the outside but no mention of any other work done and too many wanky exterior photos with little else.
