euroriffic 607 Report post Posted November 9, 2013 if they're directionals get the rears swapped from side to side. That's what I did on the e30
m325i 709 Report post Posted November 9, 2013 They say 'outside' on them so I assume I can't just swap the sides over. The wear is very minimal now, but I thought it would buy me some time before replacing all 4. Thnx
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted November 9, 2013 not really all BMWs check the inside rear tyres, especially if lowered. I pulled a set off my E34 6 months ago, looked easily WOFable on the outside 3mm or more of tread, but inside just hitting the canvas, good job i took the wheels off for a different job and spotted it
tcbaurpower 5 Report post Posted November 16, 2013 Hi, my e32 has a coolant leak and I believe it is the heater radiator. The reason being is that when it is first turned on you can smell coolant. Would I be correct in assuming this is the culprit and can I close off the coolant flow to the heater until it can be replaced? My next step would be taking it to a radiator specialist to get pressure tested in case it is not the heater. Anyone had a similar issue before and have some advice? cliffdunedin 8 Report post Posted November 20, 2013 Looking at changing trans fluid and filter this weekend, am I right to assume that i can reset the trans adaptation by unplugging the battery for a time or do I need to book in to get the dealer to do it? No.. that won't work. It needs to have adaptions cleared in the DME & EGS with a scanner

Kepes 231 Report post Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Having a (very) hard time getting the fill plug out of my manual transmission. I have a 17mm allen key. A penetrating oil such as PB Blaster looks like my best bet. Are there any alternatives to this? or any tricks to getting this bolt out? There isn't a lot of room down there so it's quite hard! Some people suggest jacking the wrench/allen key but i'm not too keen on that. Any ideas?CheersEdit: 1987 E30 325i Edited December 14, 2013 by Kepes

yng_750 247 Report post Posted December 14, 2013 or get a hex key socket and use a powerbar.
EuroSurgeon 2 Report post Posted December 14, 2013 You will need a long bar, they lock solid,
_Matt_ 42 Report post Posted December 14, 2013 when I changed my fluid I used a hex socket, put a wrench over it and whacked it with a hammer.

_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted December 15, 2013 WebRep currentVote noRating noWeight yeah its good stuff. spray it on and leave it to penetrate for a bit. every bit helps when you have a bitch nut. I have one of these in 17mm and 10mm, for the two types of transmission plugs i have come across on BMWs so far. put my power bar on it sometimes with an extension too, and it will pop out. if you are going to buy a socket like that, make sure you get a one piece socket 1/2" drive, not the cheaper two piece type
_Matt_ 42 Report post Posted December 15, 2013 I have the same as that ^ but that + a rachet didn't fit between the gear box and the cars body, which is why i put a spanner around it.
Kepes 231 Report post Posted December 15, 2013 Ahh that may be a better idea than the allen key. Might even cut a little piece off the allen key and put it in a spanner. Its just beig under the car when its on stands is what bugs me!
