Just picked up a 2012 750i, what a fantastic car.

I got a warrant for black beauty! So all that swearing and blood spilled on the driveway was worth it in the end!

So after dailying the V8 and the V12, sanity of some form had to eventually occur. This has taken the form of a Rex i3, whether that’s sane or not, time will tell. 130ks between charge with the on board generator in case I have to run off somewhere. Was looking at everything from diesel to hybrid and at the end of the day decided to go full BEV. As I’ve got the 750 and 740 and the boss has a E550, this was always going to be a 50 - 90k a day city car so BEV ended up the best choice for us. I grin wildly gunning it so not sure I’ll get anywhere near 130ks ? The thing is like a premium go cart, can’t wait to get some ks under the belt and how this BEV journey goes.

Well, it might not have gone wrong but it's not working as expected. Here's what should happen, open new credit card account, don't use card, close account. Edit: perhaps if your credit rating is low the effect isn't so obvious.

Sounds like the transmission needs a full service asap and the leak identified (lots of places for coolant and oil leaks). If the transmission shifting problems are fixed after that then it may be worth getting a full check done to see whats needed\how far you want to go, then proceed from there Lots of rubber and plastic wear items on these M54 engines unfortunately - plastic coolant pipes under the intake manifold and crankcase vent valve with rubber and plastic hoses are quite expenses fixes if paying labour on top of parts. It's typically only enthusiasts that work for free and buy their parts that bring these cars up to good condition (and keep them running). Understandably the costs involved to the average person aren't worth it given the price of these cars now. BM Workshop have a good rep

No problem, it's a sucky situation and I hope it gets resolved promptly and to your satisfaction. Just make sure you lean on Bridgestone to lodge that claim and give you the details, if they value their brand (and it's a very important brand) then they shouldn't drag their heals.

No, that's what a lot of people believe but it's not the case. You only need to claim if the other party is uninsured or doesn't accept liability. Claiming on your policy is recorded as a claim whether you're at fault or not and that can affect the cost of future policies across the industry (i.e. not just with your current insurer). You do however need to inform your insurer. The correct procedure is to ensure the at-fault party (acknowledged in this case) promptly lodges a claim and then you need the name of their insurer and the claim number, you then pass this on to your insurer. You then get the full protection of your policy (or theirs, whichever has the greatest coverage) without lodging a claim. edit: and you still get to choose your repairer as long as it's approved by your insurer. It's only ever if the at-fault party refuses to lodge a claim or has no insurance that you should ever claim on your policy. Just like opening a second credit card account negatively impacts your credit score, even if you never use that card, every insurance claim you make, whether you're at fault or not, counts against you forever.

I kind of like this one I see everyday in Parnell - makes me think I could actually consider owning one.

Pffft. Bridgestone. Stripped my lock nut in 40sec with a rattle gun (that I had used the day before in perfect condition), refused to accept they had done it, refused to help get the now stuck on wheel off and suggested I go to Mag and Turbo. Would never set foot in there again.

Took my F22 into Bridgestone to fix a slow leak on left rear. They said they couldn't do it right then, so I said, fine, I leave it with you, you call me when done. 4:15pm rolls around with no call, so I wander over to see if they are done fixing the puncture. Walk up to reception, tell them I'm there to pick up the black F22. Reception guy says "let me get someone else to help you" as he quickly walks off to get someone else. Someone else turns up and says "Hi, I need to show you something". I say as I follow him out, expecting to be told that I need to buy a new Michelin Pilot Super Sport, "I don't like being told I need to be shown something"! We walk out to my car, only to be shown instead a dented passenger door and rear wheel arch and a scratched up side skirt. At that point I'd happily have needed to buy a new tyre instead. Somehow someone had driven the side of my car into the back of a white Toyota Corolla. What did I do to my BMW today? Spent an hour making an insurance claim for damage when I wasn't even driving the car.
