Now that the clear lenses are done - I am out of control - adding things to Bimmersport only days after my last note! ! No seriously, I found out recently that much to my chagrin, one of my foglight lenses were broken. Fortuitously, my mechanic is mates with the owner of Umnitza - who runs his business nearby (they sell after-market lights, body-kits, wheels , etc). In a nutshell, Matt the owner is a great guy - and we hit it off by virtue of having many things in common - not to mention he also owned a now -deceased E39 M5 also in Bluewater! Matt recommended I try one of his new LED offerings for the E39. Despite a different tone to the factory Hella headlights, I quite like it.

You won't know yourself with rebuilt trans and torque converter. replacing cooler lines and cooler as well, in case of debris? Nearly 7 years on and ~75,000kms on and the Hutt Automatics rebuilt trans in our e46 is shifting beautifully (it's had a fluid change and filter in that time).

Sorry I missed this one. None fitted sorry, I never actually installed them as I changed seats after buying the parts from BMW. In fact I've never taken it out of the box hahah

Had it listed on trademe. Sold within an hour. I suppose it’s fair play to him if he wants to try sell it for more, I got a quick and hassle free sale.

Building back the ‘trust’ after a coolant job on an old car involves religiously checking coolant temps and for leaks after each drive. So far so good, lighting was a bit better so here’s a before and after of the engine bay. Many new shiny parts! Keen eye will notice the intensive washer bottle and pump delete. Replaced the washer jets with e60 fanning ones. So much better than the e39 baby pee dribble jets. Engine bay when first acquired. Engine bay after all M54 maintenance done, including new fan shroud and intake boots, and a good clean up.

Attended the MG & Constructors car club driver training day at Manfield last weekend. What a fun event. First time driving on the track and had an absolute blast.

Update: I towed the car to Jon @ auto38 who advised the box was busted. I towed it home, did some thinking, looked at replacement vehicles, looked at replacement boxes, sort council from multiple forum members, then towed it out to Hutt Automatics for them to drop the box and diagnose further. They have advised this morning that the A drum has failed, likely due to pressure spikes from the pressure regulator/valve body. After further discussions about how the car was driving prior to it failing I've decided to rebuild the torque converter too while it's out. Hopefully it's back on the road in a couple of weeks...
