3 pointsSo this is what's the focus of the garage at the moment: All of the bits and pieces I need to complete the Beisan double VANOS and rattle kit installations. I'm not sure if my VANOS is totally rooted but I consider this preventative maintenance anyway. I am planning to complete it with my brother over the next two days (Wed/Thur) and anybody that wishes to swing round to Hillcrest on the Shore for a look/chat is more than welcome. If seeing a partially disassembled s50b32, watching two guys fumble about, handing over some tools, talking sh*t about cars or even sharing a few beers at the end of the day interests you then flick me a PM and I'll share my details. Anyone is welcome as long as you understand we have a job to do too! Open from 10am to about 7pm... It's the first "semi-internal" job I've ever done on my car so I'm looking forward to the experience and hope I don't need to call one of our trusty sponsors to dig me out of a hole if I cock it up! lol. Will post most details in my PLOG thread (link) I think... Cheers.

2 pointsSo you're going to invite "enthusiasts" over to talk about stuff while you do work on the engine... I can see this taking a week. Both times. Nah - It's cool that you invite people over - A lot may never have even seen that far into an engine themselves! Well done!

1 pointTook the racecar out to a private drift day a friend organised a few weeks ago. 55psi In the rear tyres and the 117kw 323i performed much better than expected, albeit with several clutch kicks added in

1 pointHey guys, I went to the festival of motor racing Saturday at Hampton Downs. It was a great day with loads of cars from all manufacturers Including 3 Ferrari formula one cars and a locally built BMW M8 replica, the only other one is in a Museum in Germany Check out my pics over on Flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/image_hunter/sets/72157639894987156/ Teasers

1 pointI think the less things I have to worry about on the day the better! If you're going to do it once, do it right eh?
-
1 pointI'm confused. I think we're on different wavelengths Me = E38, You = E32 BMW just used dodgy rubbers , you can change them easily on the 6's - 8's are a bit more complex, I think. Hmmmmm... Porsche you say - I practically own one of them:

1 pointCharles, I had to get one of my wheels bored out. I was getting them fitted and balanced at Scobie tyres and one wouldn`t fit. I couldn`t believe it. They put me onto Thorpe Engineering in Dalgety Street. Wobbled round there with three hot 17 inch M Sport wheels and one 16 inch turbine, wishing I had tinted windows. Long trip... They charged me $30 to bore it to 74.1. Still don`t know what the issue was because they were off an e39 540. Give them a call ?

1 pointThat's ^^^^^^ bloody funny re 4.4 logic....................gotta admit I know nada bout VANOs, bar I consistently hear its a bit of a problem child on 6's & 8's............. And hey, he's your drinking buddy, in your neighbourhood................. Edit; sooooo, 'how do I make my coffee table go round corners better??' would be next way that'd pan out I'd predict...............

1 pointYou appear to be referring to a different car: The link is to the E32. The 728i with the M52TU (as originally stated) was only available as an E38, so I quoted E38 730i V8, the 728i was the only 6 cylinder (petrol) E38. Vanos is dead easy on the 6's... you're the one who wants a V8 Get the 4.4 - it's lighter, due to the bigger holes! Talk Mojo into a 540i, and keep an eye on the classified for the parts
-
1 pointJust do a Vanos delete and run it through a Link ........to a plug or something for a lamp.

1 pointHelensville. shesh. But nah, I'm just slack and these are a couple of months old. But ol' mate wanted some pics and since I aint got nothin else to add...

1 pointNice pics -- good eye you have there

1 pointI read the title of the thread... ..and was a bit disappointed when I read it. I do like a shaved bonnet, but not on an E30!!
-
1 pointyes. all correct. Since the cops went to digital camera's in the van's they changed from Ka to K band for them. I have my V1 still set to block X & K band as i'd rather know that if it beeps I hit the middle pedal. False alarms help no-one. Besides. Most of the van's are easily spotted and don't come with demerits.

1 pointknocked our wood pile over, and we lost a vase which my wife had placed precariously on top of the extractor fan for the stove. We were selling a car at the time, and i couldn't figure out why the car was shaking, then i looked out the windscreen, and saw the Honda bouncing up and down lol. Some dudes in a late model A8 pulled over on the other side of the road and were getting under their car, checking the tyres and the like looking for the problem. l Yelled out that it was an earthquake; and the relief on the drivers face was palpable haha!

1 pointThat would be my new Isetta that has been spotted. It is indeed the one from Dunedin. It is definitely restorable but it will sit in the shed until the other one is finished. Parts are readily available from the states and Europe and restored ones are worth abit of money. But why would you want to sell something that cool????
-
1 pointHa, you should buy it Jordan and put your bags in. Then you can join our neighbourhood gang

1 pointI need 10 likes to close this.. any takers or should I just cringe and let it fester ???

1 pointPah... Everyone goes on about the 530's balance, better steering system, etc but f*ck that. I'd take the extra 140Nm of torque the V8 delivers any day of the week!!
