OP,this is a piss-take aye? If your serious and genuinely want to build a slammed car why not spend $450 and buy a set of coilovers? At least it'll be road legal and safe. You'll only have to do it once and you'll be able to adjust/control springs and shocks for the ultimate ride. All your doing now is building a deathtrap for yourself, your passengers and anyone else who happens to be on the road when you ineveitably lose control.

I looked at a recently imported LHD 850i, only 55K kms with full csi kit and polished M Pars at a dealer. Was listed at $15.5k, sold in less than a week. Take from that what you will.

Seems like I've been dominating this thread lately... To many slackers round here/ non broken bmws. Right! So this weekend, put new HnR sport springs in the m3, new rear slotted rotors, waiting on correct fronts to come. new bushes for clutch and brake pedals so no more slop, FINALLY!!!!!!!! Finished sanding the other style 5s and have been picked up for professional polishing at $30 a wheel so can't complain with that! Also part way through vanos rebuild, vanos unit is all done bar the Teflon seal on the exhaust side that pinched and cut the side off while going in, ughhh! Waiting to hear from beisan about a replacement. Tomorrow night will be rattle repair as shafts are quite sloppy but can only go so far as forgot to order diaphragms and plates from the stealer so that's tomorrow mornings job. Beat that!!!!

Compression test should be done with plugs removed, throttle wide open and then cranked via the diagnostic socket so that no power goes to any other circuit, just the starter motor. The vanos should be left undisturbed/no power to it. Seeing it is on a stand with manifolds and cams removed (so valves should all be closed), a quick way to check if you have bent valves will be to put some paraffin/diesel into each cylinder, replace the spark plugs and then invert the engine. if the valve/s are bent, the liquid will escape rapidly. Dont forget to drain the oil first. Alternatively you can use a leak tester. If this shows bent valves, then off with its head... However, from your description, I suspect something has gone wrong with the chain/tensioner causing it to lock the crank from turning in either direction. (top end failure will normally not lock the motor solid in either direction unless it is a catastrophic failure, your work on it should not have this result). I would firstly remove the sump and have a look from the bottom. See if the chain is hooked up somehow. (It should be loose as the cams are out). Let me know what you find.

If you cranked the engine over to do a compression test prior to removing the vanos unit. The problem you now have is either cam timing, which has bent a valve into a locked open position or you have introduced a foreign object into one of the combustion chambers. Unless there is something else that you have done that you have forgotten about or didn't think it was relevant.

Natural selection at its finest. However, sadly the chances are if this moron is in an accident he'll end up killing someone and ruining a family. Two brain cells to rub together? I doubt it.

In fairness this thread is probably exactly what his aim was. People who do that to cars do it for the reaction. Good or bad they love the attention. They hate being picked on by the cops but love to brag about how many fines they got. sad thing is he probably thinks nearly killing someone in a crash would probably make a really cool facebook update....

Lots done in the last 48 hours. Removed all running gear/suspension from N42/auto powered touring. Stripped donor E46 M3 completely. Cut 1/4 panels and rear boot floor from M3. Installed S54 into the touring. AuxPump delete. Front suspension loaded in (bilsteins PSS10}. Keeping it badged as a 318i until the final stage (panel grafts & paint) is completed. I`ll let the pics speak for themselves.

It actually looks like it's already visited the crusher, Will. Hoping this is a prank. If not, what a dropkick.

Take the tyres off the rims too, that will get it even closer to the ground.. P.S. have passed your name, pic and rego WY6507 onto my buddy who just happens to be a patrol cop in your area... he reckons that it will be heading to the crusher if it is found on the road like that. knuckledragger
