After years of the shame of knowing an E30 325m could smoke my old E34 540iS in the twisties, but not having experienced an E30 for myself, today I broke the seal, myself plus OEFOXs old E30 blasted from picton to golden bay in the most funnest of ways. All i can say Is i get it now... holy crap... a car that WANTS to corner vs one that WANTS to go straight! I've never understood why anyone in there sane mind would want a puny I6 m3 when they could have an V8 m5 and allll that power! Yet here i am with an alleged 81rwkw grinning like an idiot. I cannot fathom how much more fun a car that handles like this with closer to the power to weight ratio of my 540... I think I'm converted. Next step... bolt on faster toys to this M20B23 or go find somthing that starts with and S.

Got the old scratched up seats out today. And the new ones in. Bonus it came from a later model car so it had the cup holder in the seat. So I was able to delete the old broken cupholder from the center console. Then I took the wood facing plate from the cupholder I deleted and fitted that to the one on the seat. Looks good.

Picked these up last night, need to get a few special tools and will then be chucking it all in the wagon. Will try to take some photos to throw in here as well. Using the Bentley manual to guide me along but feel free to share any tips or tricks you know of...

^^^^^ I was being a cheap arse & repaired mine. It failed about 4 yrs ago, I pulled it apart one arvo, cleaned the contacts & its been fine ever since.

It would be naive to think they are not also playing the game. The distinction may be how well hidden the cheat is. Ie hidden within maps or step changes in test performance.

No welders were harmed I have mounted the sensors and wired them in and confirmed ecu is seeing them, just haven't configured TC yet.

If you have a semi-capable teenager with a passing interest in cars make him / her do it, under your 'supervision'. Means someone else does all the tedious stuff while under the guise of 'learning' something new. Works best if bribed with pizza / movie tickets / a beer as long as the relevant parents aren't aware Hell, thats how my old man got the clutch replaced in the Morris Minor and the Telstar a few years later! Then again, I always was a bit gullible........ That kit looks like it was expensive - how much was the new DM flywheel worth?

I would advise spraying the polished wheels with clear coat once you have finished.

DCH Motor Sport http://www.cylex.co.nz/company/dch+motor+sport+ltd-17924781.html Not used them personally, but I had a recommendation some time ago

No doubt they will be wanting wider wheels and skinnier tyres.

What Pistons did you use? The 3l m54 Pistons in a m52 block didn't come nearly far enough up the cylinder to give any sort of gain from going to the larger displacement. They may be different in a m50 block but I doubt it? did you work out what the compression ratio was? Would be interested to see what sort of power it makes. We used m52b28 pistons and rods and machined the tops down a touch, With no other work other than headers and mild cams it makes 240hp at the wheels on pump fuel. Rad build by the way

Would highly suggest not watching season one of true detective if you are trying to quit. I have cut back a heap on how much I smoke now, a pack will last me close to a fortnight , but holy hell I binge watched three episodes in a row and all I wanted to do at the end of it was chain smoke a pack!

Easier to stay at home on the benefit than learn skills and get a job.

My dear ol dad, (some of you racers may have met him and my mum at the race track ) is in his mid 80s! Has watched me own and race many BMWs, wel he has just bought his first BMW, it's a 2011 325i. Bought it from Gullivers in New Market, and boy talk about VIP treatment. We went to look at the car took it for a ride 21k on tge clock, Asked them to convert gps and radio all accepted. They are Japanese staff? They were very polite and went over the whole car with us. We signed up to collect thursdsy and there was the whole staff to greet and shake hands befire we left. We drove off the lot in my car and they all lined up on the foot path to wave us away while one guy walked to the middle of the side street and stopped the traffic while we turned out. Dad picked up the car today and had a full on presentation unveiling ceremony, the car was under a big black silk cloth. They took his photo with the car upon hand over. He was blown away, best used car transaction ever in our experience!!! I've never bought a new car from BMW but as far as I know it's not as good as that. Well done to Gullivers. If you want top service go there.

It's Japanese common courtesy in the service industry. You will even see this kind of service at petrol stations in Japan. they will pump your gas, check tire pressures, wash windows and check fluids. and when you drive out, some will guide you out of traffic and if you look through the rear view mirror, you will see them bowing with their hats off.

12k you can get a Z4. 10k you can get a decent Z3. I'd not touch an SLK, nor the Honda S2000. no Audis. No frenchies. Yep, it'd be the Bimmer - eaither or. I'm not biased.

I may have some at the weekend. Can't promise anything at the moment. Could have some 16" 4x100 rims, too.

Id give finding a E46 convertible a go for around the 10k mark. Alot more car than the Z3s. Safer too.

Give Ray at Hell BM a ring... Unless they've sold in the last week or so he's got a couple of convertibles that he's selling
