Ha, there is that ! Errrr, I did say I would have to save a little more money. I've seen the odd e39 sell for 5-6k in the last 12 months. But they aren't all that common over here. Yeah, perhaps 6l/100km is more realistic. It's the car I've wanted for a long time, but it may be another year before they drop into the 7-8k range.

Yes they are, they will all fail as they all have the same faulty valve stem seals.

Time to make some space in my back yard. This car has 165k and was very well maintained by the previous owner. It was written off by insurance after it was rear ended even though the damage was reasonably minor. Most parts available; Good m54b25 engine $600 ono complete Good auto box $250 ono Set of four wheels with kuhmo 205/55/16 tyres. Three tyres have 5mm tread, one has 2mm. $300 ono Any parts you want just ask.

Gearing up for a new gear knob....leather worn though on old one.... Plus new oil separators and associated gubbins to go with new thermostat and a full service..... Plus a clean after two road trips in the rain - great to catch up with Dave and compare cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One day... The buy price is perhaps less optimistic than the 5l/100km desired? Dunno... The performance and economy relative to a petrol-engined 5-series does make it attractive. A 335d won't be available for $5k any time soon, but the performance and economy are something to ponder.

If you get another BMW you will spend any savings on a new spoiler or Sears etc any saving dissapesrs, better to buy something you don't really like but won't touch

Hiya Glenn. I'm still lurking, and unfortunately still putting up with "that" dirty demon (tho' I wish I wasn't) Keep pretty silent these days as I don't have a Bimmer so keep my nose out lol. I do speak up 'IF' I need to tho'. (Hence above post) Thank you for the 'HB'.

Drums on the rear, really? That's pretty poor. The car looks good Graham. One of the bonuses of using a potato as a camera
