Afternoon Team So managed to get a bit more done yesterday. With the help of my awesome mechanic mate Master G. He brought his tool box with him too. Unfortunately didn't get as far as i wanted as one of the piston bearings was really worn which i must have overlooked when checking them. So the decision to do it once do it right was applied. Managed to get the crank and main caps back on with the right torque settings. Put the new piston rings on the pistons and now just got to order a complete set of new piston bearings tomorrow. Managed to find the info online on torques settings. Didn't realized how many pages it was! as you can see pretty much printed a book. So if any one is looking for torque settings for any BMW motor I could let you know. Also was pretty handy how the directions and pictures to install the rings were dummy proof. Wrapped the block up in glad wrap to keep the dust out. The crank spun so smoothly even Master G was surprised on how well it was freely spinning by hand after bolts were torqued up. Really looking forward to bolting the dry sump on to see how compact it is.

It probably looks much better in real life, (and without the doors - like Olaf says!). I do like the leather... but not the firewood dash.

I cleaned it up a bit yesterday. Going to polish it today. I don't think it has been polished since new. So it will take a while. Ordered some new trim and a few other bits and pieces from ecstuning. Just damaged weather stripping etc. Oh and no roadtrip time Stupid DMV is closed on Sunday and Monday. And my insurance didn't start till Sunday. So I couldn't get it registered. So I will just clean it instead. Should be a great little runabout.

Yeah...kinda hard to justify two sedans.....but the 540i will tow the boat ?.....once I get a tow bar for it.....

I'd (much) rather pay more for a better car. But for someone who wants a cheapish hack; they could likely do a lot worse.

I wish people would come back to forums rather than shitty facebook groups. Facebook is near dead to me. If I wasn't in another country and forced to share my holiday photos and activities with family I would have ditched it long ago. But the one thing that I really hate with FB groups is that you can not search for anything. If you were talking about something months/years back that had some good data or links, you need to scroll through the entire f**king history to try and find it. It is just not designed to retain data for the user. Oh and that nothing is anonymous on Facebook. Everything you post or read will be sold and used to push ads at you.
