Got around to fixing up the dents in the rear end of the E36 over the weekend. Didn't end up respraying the top edge of the bumper, you can still see cracking in the paint but buffed up OK for now.

Don't have to like the guy, but that's a pretty uncharitable comparison. ? His points are reasonably valid and do seem to echo reality in that, at least to me, the e39 m5 in particular is the pinnacle of BMW cars. Call it confirmation bias on my part.

Wait wait wait. Someone bid $17,750 for that car! Hahahahahaha. Am I laughing that it is not worth anywhere near that? Or is it laughter to cover my pain of selling my car for far less than that?

Thanks Allan maybe something like this https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1413418776 ? Not too far from you! Given it's milage more a driver than collectable? I was looking for a manual but I guess with the right manual box, shaft and LSD it would make a good project..

Personnel first thought on opening trademe link holy ,.//!@# dreamer must say I know nothing about e24's. Even reading the write up it became more alarming when the rust word was mentioned what other nasty surprises could their be. It depends on what rocks your boat some will see it as a challenge others a disaster waiting to happen.A whole look of research, inspecting and hard bargaining if it got to that stage would be required.Out of interest a bit of info vin WBA 5332000 5550365, 635csi, NZ new first rego 3 Feb 1987, production date 1 December 1979, not sure what happened to the missing years. Sure their are better options out their as Brent mentioned best of luck.

Definitely not. Very different cars, E30 era models were built at a time when simplicity and quality were king - the epitome of BMWs character. The newer era cars are built much cheaper, far less style aesthetically, and have a lot more complication alone, both not good for the longevity.

I remember seeing it when I was considering options a couple of months back... I like that it's not silver/black and that interior could grow on you - after you've been violently ill once or twice lol

I got JTUNE to install mine, since they've done a few 7" VRSF for E9x and E8x platforms. Wanted to service the car with MOTUL X-cess as well, so it was convenient for me. I got mine off @gaijin since he went big tom FMIC for his single turbo conversion. My car is AT and it feels slightly different to stock FMIC, a little lag yes. But very minimal. Not to the point where you notice it. However, with that being said. The car pulls alot more consistently now. Im also running MHD Stage1+ so I had to get a FMIC before Summer came around regardless. Hope that helps!

I thought I might spray onto a microfibre towel, then wipe on to the belt.

Yeah I think I'd just bought my gutless 325i at the time, would have been around 2010! Keen to see this again once you've got it sorted. Not many BMWs I like more than a properly sorted E34 V8

1M are not as solid as e30s. Just my humble opinion. I like the 1M don't get me wrong. How easy will it be to service in 25 years time?

Did it make any difference to the car? Sheldon the owner of first class was good but had an accident (wrote off a kit car) and was unable to work. His lackeys were definitely monkeys. Left the pollen filter cover of my Audi, resulting in the passenger foot well filling with water during an over night storm on a roadtrip up north. When confronted about it, the lackeys tried to deny that the cars ever had a cover (Google was my friend there). I think others had similar experiences and first class went under this year. Shame really.

I don't bother with the labels anymore. I buy cars with 3 pedals (and no the footrest\foot brake don't count).

Wow, all these posts on the thread about an E46 M3 and no-one has commented on the fact that it is an SMG gearbox, damn, just did it myself. It will be interesting to see how high the price goes on this one, and if it actually sells without and shill bids..

Hey, gotta make sure it has the important features.... the kind that sells cars to wives...

An m3 post and you're talking babyseats... Now thats funny :-)

You know... We have 4 child seats (2 per car... It's a pain to move them around) and one of them is a Britax with a clicksafe system that is a breeze to install and move around. It costs $500ish, but that is the seat to get if your kid is forward facing and happy. I'll find a link. Trivial to install correctly and safely. EDIT: It's "Clicktight" and this is the seat https://www.babyonthemove.co.nz/car-seat/shop-by-weight/9-40kg/britax-frontier-click-tight It's worth every penny and installs solid tight unmoving on any car we've tried so far. ALR seatbelts not required, nor messing with the damn clips.

We are looking at two different cars then. Sorry, my mistake. The one I'm looking at is an E90 Sedan.

Cheers ! I spent 6 weeks in Europe backpacking around and then moved to Whistler Canada for two winters of incredible snowboarding and parties. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a working holiday experience.
