Update After cleaning it up again and regular driving im guessing it was probably residue oil floating round in the manifold, it's dry as a bone now on the head / block after driving it, and improved fuel economy used to average 10.5/11l per 100km round town, but now i'm getting 8l/100 being careful with the throttle. That blown CCV was really killing fuel consumption. Open road back to it's former glory averaging <7l/100km for a straight 6 is astonishing. Guess people should be aware that if your CCV is poked, that after the fix you could expect oil to keep finding it's way down the manifold seals onto the head for a short while after as there might be a remnant in the system. Thanks all for your responses through this!

9 years ago in July you commented on my first introduction thread... now we've both bought F10 M5s within a week of each other ? so coincidental What a car to get!

Depends on what required i suppose. My old M20 setup was fine apart from the installer using the wrong release bearing causing poor pedal engagement, i did want to put much more power thru it than the stock M52 2.8L it was on so i went with the E46 M3 dual mass and M54 clutch setup to support the 3L. Ive never had any chatter from BMW factory single mass flywheels on any car and the car drove way better than it does now as it didnt have a self adjusting clutch (which i cant wait to wear out)

All ZF's are essentialy the same. Both boxes can be used with any flywheel\clutch but i wouldnt use a std m20 clutch behind a 3.0l, m20 flywheel is only 220 vs 240 factory spec for M5x engines. ZF driveshaft is different, maybe the cross member I can't recall.

Under your profile there's an 'Album' tab which allows you to add images you can then link to in posts or messages. It's a bit obscure, but now you know you'll be good-to-go.

Yeah its coming along very nicely, cant wait to hear it and see how much of a gain in power over factory. Slip joints are there due to the tight fitment between heads and the chassis, which Austin tried to remove with it tacked up but said it was just too hard to remove in one piece. So am going with the slip joint to be able to be removed in pieces.

Hey team New proud x5 owner here that needs a little help in diagnosing this issue. So calling out all the e53 x5 owners, so when i go to lock the car up maybe 2 secs, sometimes 2 mins after all the windows and sunroof just open fully up. Has any one had this issue before? or any suggestions to what maybe the cause? Appreciate any help Thanks Richard

Unlike everyone else, i actually run one of these Racingdiffs progressive LSD's on my track car and i can tell you it works. I can't compare it to a factory LSD as I've never driven one, but certainly going from an open center, to a welded diff, to the above progressive LSD, it defintely works. I'll try to do a breakaway torque test of my diff over the coming weeks and will report back with the results. For reference, I'm from Aus and drive a 93 E36 325i (almost finished my turbo build). You can check out some of my racing with the welded diff and LSD on my youtube channel too: https://www.youtube.com/user/dominator293

I had a go painting up the new bracing myself on Saturday after work Also chopped up boot floor & rubber carpet into multiple sections to fit around brace. Factory fresh. Not bad. Swapped on semi slicks and went for a track experience thing at Hampton Downs y'day, was great fun. This car handles like it's on rails now, I'm impressed..!

Well, still not as bad as Porsche 911 pricing. But all it takes is one to sell for some absurd amount and the dreamers put their prices up. Then the ones that retail for 10k will seem like a Bargain. The only thing that's missing is a few Petrolicious docos on how great and raw the 318i auto is to drive. I bet Dutton Garage will then have one on sale for $40k with 50k on the clock.

People on Facebook who are selling something with the 'pm me for deetz' so you PM them as they requested but they don't reply. Why even bother putting an ad if you you're not gunna reply

And the buy now has gone up to $31.5k. Not going to happen. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2241726144.htm Arguably it's worth more now than it was 2 years ago (assuming same condition) but that might bring it up to the original price of $25k but certainly not 30+ . Seems well serviced but you have to do all that or the car will stop working, it's not an added-value extra, servicing a car doesn't make it more valuable although failing to service it can destroy value. Then again, somebody is trying to hock a e46 M3 SMG for $50k lol. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2245717254.htm And there's that 3.0 M3 that they're still trying to get $38k for. A world full of dreamers, they've been spending too much time on BaT.

Hi Guys, Thought I would say hi and introduce myself. I’ve been a lurker on here for a few years, and after a long hunt I finally managed to find a nice M3 to buy around 15 months ago, and been enjoying it as a weekend car ever since!

I’m from Northern Ireland, been in NZ almost 6 years, and I had 2 Alpina’s over there. A B3S Touring and a C2 2.7, I sold the B3S a few years back but still have the C2 2.7
