Update: COVID-19 may have foiled my wife and I's plans to go to Europe but I've been making the most of the lockdown. Decided to take a trip to Repco pre-lockdown to get some 10w-60 Castrol Supercar oil, some Penrite dot 4+ brake fluid and some ATF to replace the transmission and power-steering fluid. After doing the brakes I started to get pull things apart to try track down my idle issue. Before long I had the plenum off but couldn't find any perished vacuum lines. I figured that while its off it would be a good time to rip out the secondary air pump in case it had anything to do with the issue. One thing lead to another and the car is now without AC, an SAP or a viscous fan ? I need to take the viscous coupling off still and replace it with an electric fan (on the to-do list). Also decided to drop all the coolant and replace it all with a proper 50/50 mix with the best coolant I can find. Anyway, back to the SAP. It's pretty simple to remove it all only the AC is very much in the way.. as are the headers. I couldn't commit to taking the headers off so I decided to leave the steel pipe running to the head and blanked it off at the end. I was surprised at how little information was online about doing this on an S50. Not as easy as the M54 and S54 as I found out.. Will fire the car up once I've recharged the battery and see how it runs. Have left the heat shields off the headers as it looks miles better but would be interested to see if anyone thinks this could be detrimental. After putting the intake back together I was pretty stoked to see that the subframe already had the 4 nutserts required to bolt up my x-brace so I ended up doing that too. On another note, I sold my style 24s to my cousin to put on his 328i coupe and bought some 17x8 and 17x9 BBS LMs. I used to own these 2 years ago and only just managed to convince a mate of mine to sell them back to me. They're not to everyone's taste with the gold centres but I think they're quirky. Took some time to scrub them free of all the layers of brake dust which had accumulated over the years.. not sure it will last long but it seemed like a good way to spend two days at the time. Hope people find the update interesting and not too much of a picture overload.

Have had plenty of garage time and as I’ve explained to wife it’s dangerous to climb ladders currently with risk of broken bones and catching Covid19 at the hospital ? Ticking off items on the project list. Clean, paint & rebuild brake callipers Used a combo of wire brush, electric drill with wire brush attachments, dremmel wire brushes, sand paper and brake cleaner. Painted with 4 coates of Duplicolour Calliper paint and 3 coates of high heat clear over top. Blue’s my fav colour. Decided not to use MSport logos as I would have had cover up the MSport stamp on the callipers. Used ATE ex-FCP Euro seals and followed instructions placing dust shield at bottom of piston before pressing in using g-clamp. Straight forward. I’m really pleased with the results. Moving to the rear. More corrosion here and pistons were a little seized! Plus the pads had disintegrated!, Looks like a BMW stamp? So need to get replacement pads. Supercheap and Repco online is available. Anyone make any recommendations for the brands stocked? XP dba, Reco brand, TWR or Silverline? May end up being stop gap. Also replace gearbox mounts Straightforward loosening top nut then using jack to take weight then dropping gearbox bracket a bit then remove mounting nuts top and bottom before sliding out. Install the reverse.

Hey @Gaz, hope you're keeping well in these times. TBH not much has happened, I've temporarily moved it into storage (along with he B11, E34, spare E3, E36 Msport coupe and about 10 other cars) to build the workshop/home office area, so I'm needing to get that sorted first before really getting into it. I have got a good, old school panelbeater lined up - will get the E34 to him first (that's only minor work) to make sure he's as good as I'm told, before stripping the E3 and getting to work on it. Have been wondering what a twin carb M30B28 motor is worth these days, as the spare E3 is the 2.8l version. Will have to look into that. There may also be another long-term project to do with that spare E3, the body is a bit too rusted to be economically restored so it may end up becoming something a bit different....... but we'll see. First things first, I need to get this workshop/office done ☺️

I've corrected my post above, you'll only need one resonator, it will go between the Y-pipe and the muffler, where the heat shield is. But get the Y-pipe sorted at the same time regardless.

Received my aluminium M3 arms from Schmiedmann today. The big ones are used, off an M3 with 40k km's and were 50 US bucks each, the other ones are new OEM ones with the ///M and BMW symbols ground off ?. They were about 100 NZ bucks each. Also a new fuel filler pot to replace my floppy one with Blu-Tack ? Edit: yes I also got the little adaptor rod for the auto-levelling Xenon headlights. Also got some adhesive faux Alcantara that I'm going to try on the spare trim I got a while back.

My (faux) Alcantara arrived from Amazon yesterday and the aluminium M3 suspension arms arrived from Schmiedmann today. Can't install the arms until I can get an alignment. ?

Yes will likely have a Gen3 Hemi V8 and rack and pinion steering. 69 Camaro's are lovely looking cars, like the E Body Mopars one of the best looking muscle cars ever. I personally think the Charger is the best looking Aussie Muscle car but do have a soft Spot for XB Falcon Coupes and A9X Torana Hatch backs.

I use the Mt Wellington branch, as does Dave. I see there is a Hamilton branch too. As for the front strut mount trick, you dont need new ones, you swap them over from left to right to get extra camber. Extra camber for the front wheels is the best handling improvement for our cars over all the adjustments.

Here's a rare one. Anyone know - specifically - what the designation is?
