Go e46 330i front brakes and e46 325i/328i rear brakes. Its a very noticeable improvement

General consensus is the the N62 is a pile of junk and best avoided, always leaky and full of plenty of issues they just shouldn't have. Unless you can get a mechanical warranty on the engine not worth bothering with. M62 certainly has a better track record, but complex, older now and need the timing chain guides done, vanos work and other fiddly stuff. While apart valley coolant block plate seal should be done along with other 20 year maintenace items. Switching to a non water cooled alternator is probably a good idea too. Personally I'd use an older M60B40 and refresh that, a well proven reliable vanos free motor, double chain timing and idler gear for the chain rather than cost cutting U shaped guide that wears out as used on the M62. Still a few things to do given they are 25-30 years old. Or just use an LS GM engine and sleep at night knowing it will run forever without a problem :p

Hi again, Another engine swap in the making for a E24 635csi, want to put a V8 in, was thinking E39 M62 but do like the few extra HP from the N62B44 or 48, I realize the wiring aspec is a little more complex, will run donor car DME alongside auto and ecu for that. My question, is there anything physically different with the two that would make this more difficult? I'm aware of the, header, steering box issues but thought I read something about the Oil sump pump or perhaps oil? lines at rear of engine? Thanks in advance for your comments/ suggestions. Brent

Wanting $6000 Bimmersport thread Black Top LCI model - 220k Kms. Fresh Wof and Rego. Has been my daily and the most reliable BMW I've owned. I have 3 130is so need to reduce the fleet as I only drive the manual one now. Has extensive service history from previous owners. Major items in last 40k kms include: Transmission Service, Rocker Cover/Oil Cooler/Inlet Manifold Gaskets, Belt, Tensioner, Crank and Idler pulleys plus Starter Motor. In my ownership I've put in a new battery, Vanos solenoids, replaced coolant temp sensor, spark plugs + coil, fan blower motor and had a professional cut and polish done. Drives well and looks good. There are normal stone chips on the bumper/bonnet for its age but otherwise externally is really nice. Tyres have good tread too. Inside is also nice, except the floor mats have stains that wont come out(have cleaned them several times). Has a Parrot bluetooth system installed, good for music, and legal tints. Also had the flap in the rear muffler opened full-time, gives a bit more noise as flap normally opens fully under more throttle, can be returned to normal by plugging the vacuum line back in. Otherwise totally stock. Currently the rear wiper doesn't work. Was that way when I bought it and hasn't bothered me. A few recent pics:

Money is also cheap to borrow at the moment, people can't travel either so are looking for a vice. Classic cars may just be that vice.

Google RHD Engineering to find m44 ITB kit, from memory shipped came to NZ$2700<>. We had a Link Management System ($2000<>) wired in; bought a complete ITB Kit from RHD and had a local tuning shop instal and tune it in ($3300 incl ITB kit & labour<>). I have another 'like project' except it's an older '02 with an S42/m42 installed with ITB's.

With Autosure or any mechanical warranty, you'll find the phrase 'one excess for each and every unrelated claim

Lh indicator is the correct way IMO.

Both the n62 and m62 have their quirks. n62 is rear sump, so factor that in. And ignore Michaels offensive suggestion of putting a chevy engine in a bavarian ?

I thought Snow tyres don't pass a WOF now. And if that is the case they should not be passing compliance. In Canada and no doubt some northern US states you can get a fine for running tyres outside of the season they were made for. Bad Tyres, Bad Roads, Bad Drivers. And it is only getting worse as people hold onto their poorly maintained econoshitters for longer and longer.

Hello folks. Ive been thinking of joining the forum for some time now, and have finally got around to doing it. I have three E30's, all different build specs, all non standard. The plan is to race them, and have some fun when they are finished. It would be great to get to know other like minded people, and compare notes and ideas.

Shityres as well as old should be banned or just for “competition use” See it alot on High performance cars “New tyres” in the forsale ad seems to hold as much value as “timing chain no cambelt”. Or cambelt changed but not the wp, idlers, etc ?‍♂️?‍♂️

So I did a bit of a blue a while back and it's been bugging me since. I drop a bar on the roof and it creased the roof edge. When I got the dent remover guy in to remove some other minor dents he wasn't able to pull it out as it was on a crease line. So I put a claim in with Classic Cover who approved it and I took it in to Prestige Repairs here in Hamilton. There was a bit of other touching up needed with respraying wing mirrors and boot lid, plus stone chips on the bonnet and few other spots around the car. They ended up have to respray the whole roof and down the A and C pillars to blend it in and came up really well although I did have to take back for a little more buffing which they handled promptly. I'll post some photos when I get a chance and it's not raining.

Just fixed 3 cars at work last week for a local panel beater here, a E87, Evo4 and Sirion. All 3 had taken a hit to the front left requiring replacement steering racks, knuckles and bearing to be fitted (for insurance). Naturally all sporting some sort of Chinese flavour of the month, but crashing ain't enough to stop people buying on price it seems.
