Been doing a few little jobs last day or two - refurbished my Mtech 1 wheel, removed and repainted some trim parts (wiper as / door handles etc) and tried a little dash crack band aid. lucky to only have one visible dash crack - about 2 inches or so long - I’m not into the carpet on the dash look so tried a little ‘fix’. Had some black RTV sitting around so filled it in using some toothpicks and trim removal tools. Came out pretty good TBH - not sure if this will stop it growing but it’s certainly less obvious now, not a panacea but not a disaster either. Will clean up edges properly once it’s fully set.

Ryan from Brisbane now owns the car. Money paid, and car gone. A very nice transaction from my point of view to a genuine car guy who I am very confident will enjoy and look after the car. It will stay in NZ for a short time at least until the Aus logistics are sorted.

They can be prone to a leaky seal at the back of the transmission which requires the transmission to be partially dropped to get to. Mine was fixed under warranty, and I suspect most that were going to have an issue would have had it by now and been fixed, but worth checking the service records for. Everything else should be pretty good, just look for shock wear. I replaced mine at 75km. Oh, and they DO respond really well to a remap - you will release 50-60Nm, improve fuel economy, and most importantly throttle response.

Turns out JB Weld ‘Black RTV’ is a solid match for E30 dashboard

That’s come up real well. Will be almost invisible when it’s cleaned off.

I'd bet on it being some form of Aliexpress motorsport badge, like the other cheap tat on the car.

From memory it hangs off the bottom of the top part of the intake manifold, it would probably be worth making sure you had a few meters of new vacuum hose before you start digging around, you will end up replacing all of them!

Agreed, if you wanted a 130i that would be ticking the boxes. At that price though you are getting very close to early F20 M135i money, which is a tough call.

^^This. The 320d in standard tune (no need to map it and screw all the emissions kit) has plenty of torque and does the 80-120kph overtakes easily even when we’ll loaded up. 330d / 335d would be nice, but obviously more $$$, but not necessary. The F31 really is a leap ahead of the E91 in most aspects.

Nice one. My 318is had a ropey idle as well, a good clean of the ICV and throttle body will do wonders for it!

Great read thank you and an awesome car for the money

Probably not, I imagine there is a big aluminium beam in there somewhere to meet frontal impact standards and it blocks more airflow than the plate anyway.

Should be fixed now, seems to be ok for me. Please let me know if you are still seeing warning messages or issues. Hi
