Interior refurb is about to kick off with Fabric being ordered today. Flip flopped to using the original OEM Lemans BMW Anthracite Uberkaro as ended up being cheaper (and faster) than an Internationally sourced reproduction fabric, plus they have the matching bolster fabric too. Will be doing door cards and front and rear headrests in Uberkaro as well so will be a lot of plaid! Should kick off next week. I have some of these Mtechnic seat badges en route as well but wondering if it will be a bit overkill with the pattern?

Without any specific knowledge of the car in question, I think that if the shifts are fully controlled by a transmission computer, it will protect against user error. My car is a 2008 model and it will not downshift if making the shift would result in excessive engine rpm. And I have seen a YT video of someone purposefully shifting a reasonably late model Honda (I think) into reverse at 100kph to see what would happen. Nothing happened... the trans did not shift into reverse, and there did not appear to be any ill effects. So based on that exhaustive investigation of barely any facts, I think your trans controller should keep you safe. Curiously enough, I find that operating the wipers just before I make a turn doesn't always get me a cheerful wave from other motorists Cheers...

My new Mtech 2 wheel is all refurbished and looking amazing but unfortunately the horn kept sticking/ staying on (an annoying feature indeed!). Pulling it apart I found this hot mess of semi detached solder, shagged spring plates and added copper wire, possibly to offset the lack of spring in the plates? Anyway, managed to rebend plates so they click back. Will also resolder everything to make it all solid for another 20 years or so.

I bought this... the potential is very real. was actually in quite good condition apart from a few cosmetics. very quick for how heavy it is. and it does well over 200k on private roads... has anyone seen those crazy guys that turbo these? because I'm looking in that direction. (sorry if that hurts the purists) I must ask though. what would you do with it if youd bought it

Hey folks, I'm sadly selling my lovely Z4. It took me 2 years of determination (and checking trade me, Facebook, driven etc every day) to find a manual one for the right price. And I've loved opening it, but it has to go to free up some money for me to build a tiny house. I don't need to tell you how rare they are in this country as your all BMW fans so I'm sure you'll know (and if you don't just try and find another one for sale 😀) I'm asking $19,500 or near offer. Located in Tauranga Here's the trademe listing for all the details: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/z4/listing/3636461583

I’ve just sold my Z4 manual, the sport button only changes the throttle response. They are under rated cars. GLWTS

Yes it did, however very rare. There was a high km 135i n55 manual sold few months back.

N55s apparently had a manual option but I'd expect that to be super rare. A 135i manual is gonna blow a 130i away. I had a 130i auto and it was pretty boring. Cool stuff costs more money. On Trademe the white one in Timaru or red one in Wellington are my picks.

Lots of nice N55 DCTs, which could be a good trade off between Auto/Manual? Have had an N55 for 4+ years now and only had basic maintenance required. The market is flooding at the moment due to increasing interest rates/increased cost of living, so you may be able to talk people down. It's certainly much harder to ask top dollar when there's 3+ more of the same car at the same price. Earlier in the year there were hardly any Maserati GTs for sale and no 4.7s below $65k. Now there's heaps and a few below $65k.

Rolling the guards on this car proved extremely difficult due to the fact that the lip is two layers of metal which is extremely stiff and hard to bend and the seam sealer stud in behind the lip. Removed the seam sealer with a wire wheel on a drill, very messy job, got the rubber dust everywhere, not pleasant in the eyes. Gave it a go with a guard roller and heat gun, 1hour later and no change. Decided to change up the approach and got a rubber mallet, with some heat and eventually managed to hammer the inside lip a lot flatter. Not a huge amount of room gained, but definitely a noticeable change, won't do anymore because I don't want to risk warping the guards. Will touch up the paint where the wheels rubbed it off and where I took it off with the wire wheel, and then fill the small area behind the lip back up with seam sealer to make sure no moisture can get trapped in there and slowly rust out the quarter panel. Then will just need to trim back the guard lining a bit to keep it away from the tire. Will most likely go to a 235/40/18 tire and adjust camber as necessary. Subframe and diff bushings also arrived today, only took 4 business days all the way from the US which was very quick. Would definitely recommend condor speedshop, great to deal with, answer emails quickly and products seem very high quality, machining is very precise with an excellent finish. Went with the UHMW bushings with aluminium inserts, they split into 2 pieces so should be much easier to install than oem ones. Looking forward to seeing how the car feels once I get them installed.

Got some solid work in today and completed the fabrication of the trans mount / drive shaft loop !! Just need to clean up the welds and a bit of spatter etc then paint and it can go in for good at last.

I think a new battery is in order either way. Its almost 10 years old, undersized and negative temperatures. I'll get a new Varta F18 from Battery Town tomorrow. Not a bad innings considering the average lifespan is 5 years according to forums. Doesn't seem to have IBS either. If this honestly fixes it, you'll hear the sigh of relief from your place.

Interior planning update: My Mtech 2 370mm wheel is in NZ now so hope to get my hands on it shortly. Found my Fabric (Anthracite Uberkaro by Relicate) https://relicate.com/collections/uberkaro-plaid-fabric-for-bmw-e30-and-m3/products/uberkaro-fabric-for-bmw-m3-and-e30-anthracite?variant=32486462881872 I didn’t realise but I already have this same fabric in my car as Stitchboots used it for my shifter and handbrake boot - it’s nice and dark - I’m not a fan of the silver Uberkaro. Biggest decision now is wether to go Uberkaro on the door panels as well - due to the one piece E30 door car design it won’t be able to replicate the factory look with the fake stitch (will look like below photo but in Uberkaro) but I think it will tie in nicely compared to having light grey plain fabric (my existing door card). Possibly could have horizontal stitched ‘pleats’ on the door card to break up the wall of fabric and replicate the sport seats vertical pleats / emulate the leather door card horizontal pleats too. Just waiting on my 2nd estimate and hope to get done in July.

Could get a 33% down payment on an E30 with 33% of the cylinders 😂 Awesome value for someone with some cojones.
