To be fair any e39 example from @hqstu will be far superior to any thing being sold publicly. If I was in the market for an e39 I wouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger on one of his!

Bit of an interesting one today ... got the car onto a set of corner scales to see how it looks. This was with minimal gas in the tank, maybe 1/8th and no driver. With me sitting in there it was quite well balanced left to right at the front which is cool. So its a 52/48 split front to rear ... full tank of gas (lets say +40kg) makes it 49.4% rear give or take. Would be really interesting to see some numbers from a 330 and M3 in RHD to compare !!

I think its overpriced given its likely on heaps of original 22 year old parts. @hqstu will sell you his blue one for around that price and it will be in far better condition despite the milage.

None of those besides maybe the '00 E39 maybe would likely sell at those prices (a few of those have been on trademe for a very time). @hqstu for example sold his tidy 540i msport for 7k or 7.5k and it had most of the big ticket items done. They arent that popular and lots to choose from. Id value an average E39 Msport auto @ 4-6k. A good condition one with all major work done @ 8-12k and the equivalent manuals at 15-25k. The average E34 540iA has been listed in 4-8k mark for a long time, they haven't really changed price in any meaningful way in 10 years and suffer the same issue and the E39. They are much more reliable and cheaper to sort mechanically than an E39, but E39's certainly drive and handle much better.

Not even a teensy, tiny, little bit. I've lived in a lot of places. Trust me - NZ is an oasis of calm. Yup, got it's problems, but really nothing like those faced by so many other places. Oz looks good - more money, cheaper cost of living (depending on where you go) but bear in mind that if it moves, it'll probably kill you. And if it doesn't move, it'll probably still kill you. Unless you're planing a move to the Azores, Iceland, or one of a couple of other Scandinavian countries, this really is as good as it gets. A great shame that such a loud part of our political media seems hellbent on trying to persuade people otherwise.

Hi guys, I’m new here, just bought a pretty original 1986 E30 325i. Really happy with it, and it reminds me of my 1986 318i (mm6046), that I owned 19 years ago, and wished I’d never sold it! I flew to Hamilton to pick it up last weekend, and drive it home to Canterbury, mostly trouble free. It was a great time. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll have plenty of questions coming up, and certainly a few photos too! Looking forward to it!

Hey guys - recently picked up an m325i which I’m sure most would be familiar with.. Post the latest auction on trademe I had gotten in touch with the seller to organise a deal and here we are! Have come from a long line of silvia’s, ae86’s and the like so being my first E30, wanting to get an idea of the best sources for new replacement and used OEM parts, local workshops in Auckland etc etc. Cheers - and hope to catch you all soon.

Hi. When I was last here I had a 1999 NZ New 740i. I did a few retro fit projects with in car navigation, rear dash subs, upgraded amps. I sold it a few years ago. I was Jimbo01, no idea why I’m On a different profile. My daughter has a 2008 E87 130i which my wife loves it so she wanted a similar BMW to replace her 2005 Mercedes Benz SLK280. So we got her one but we then decided we should keep the SLK so I sold my 2007 Mercedes Benz ML500. I still have a VW Passat CC 3.6 V6 with 4Motion (currently on TM). The BMW we bought is a Japanese new E84 BMW X1 28i Xdrive MSport. The dealer in Auckland had it modified to NZ frequencies and NZ navigation but seems to have disabled the bluetooth phone integration - we seem to have the bluetooth unit in the boot. We briefly had both the ML500 and the X1. We called the ML Beast, so the X1 is Mini beast. I’m super impressed with the X1, it has a good amount of space for such a small package. Went great for our skiing holiday with the roof box on top. Much easier to access the roofbox than the ML, and I like getting 4km more for each litre of petrol. Things I’m looking to do to the X1: Retrofitting cruise control and am on the lookout for a E84 steering wheel squib with the cruise control stalk, and the lower steering column cover with the hole for the stalk. From what I understand it is plug and play, with programming needed. So I’ll be looking for advice / searching the site for anyone who is good at coding in Wellington. Sorting out the bluetooth phone integration. We are using a bluetooth adapter with the aux in. Adding a tow hitch with removable tow bar for an eBike carrier. I’m selling my Passat to fund an eBike. Changing the tyres for Pirelli P8 All Season. Dealer put it on new Hifly 805 tyres but they don’t rate well although its not urgent as they have not given us any issues. Maintenance on the X1: New spark plugs Transfer case service 1st service for 3 year warranty at 88,000km. New front windscreen Next is probably a transmission service at Hutt Automatics.
