A couple of months ago I jumped at a chance opportunity to catch up with Nathan from “Those Car Dudes” on YouTube. It was a perfect summers evening in New Plymouth for a spontaneous photoshoot, the results were unreal!

Went to a local Hardpark and managed to take out First Place Euro. Also a local charity car show where I took out Best European, was pretty cool being alongside my Dad with his 1936 Ford 3 Window Coupe where he took out Presidents Choice that day. Daniels 335i is one tough E91 family wagon too!

@KwS ironically when they're going to spend several tens of millions to remove one set of traffic lights further down SH2 (Melling) - which I am in favour of. JFC NZTA are terrible. The public service cull should've started with them So much this.

Haven’t updated this in a bit so time for a photo dump! Car is a bit of a garage queen but does get driven occasionally. You know it goes well when you hop out shaking with the adrenaline! Summer Cruising: Winter “cool cars and coffee”

E36 are easy compared to anything that came after. I only removed the glass, window rail and door handle.

$3k! I’ve got one in a drawer. Really looking forward to taking everything apart again!

Replaced window motor, bushing and lubed up regulator and everything else that should be. Replaced the door lock actuator, and now everything works. Windows go up and down at the push of a button, they drop a little bit when you open the doors, they drop halfway when you put the roof up and down. Central locking works on the key… it works so well on the drivers door that I can’t open the f***ing thing now! Door locks and unlocks but neither handle, interior or exterior will open the door. Option 1: Climb over from passenger side Option 2: Put roof down from passenger side and jump in Option 3: Have a BMW bonfire, and a beer Replaced bonnet badge, bonnet and boot struts, some trim pieces. Car’s looking great, just can’t get in it which is sub-optimal.

Making the rotisserie with a dual purpose of being the L98 startup cradle, when its not in use. Also, I just want to hear that V8 warm mee guts during winter. I did have some heating issues after lowering the radiator for the 4 inch Intake mod is the first build, so running it up here all setup will help.

Several variants of tank, I might have a used one ,depending on the type. otherwise new you'll either have genuine BMW $$$$ or aftermarket , Some aftermarket ones have minor issues , what I don't mention in this video is the filler neck requires some adjustment as it fouls on the subframe , however I suppose it is a cheaper option.

I did a end of year project on suspension kinematics at uni, but the more I learned the less I knew... ... this site has some awesome articles and is a good place to start, I wish I had this resource in 2004! From a design perspective, the E90 stuff is pretty hard to beat. Multi-link is a massive step up from semi trailing arms, but the calculations required for things like spring rates are massively different - See link above. Fortunately the E90 stuff (complete, including the front sub frame) has been used front and rear with an S85 in the past, although it all went into an E30 M3, so it "is" possible. See the pics attached for a possible solution - custom cradle for the rear using the same E90 pickup points, and then get that mated to the shell. Wide body will be the next step if you keep the sub frames the same width though. If you're looking at the simplest solution at getting the power to the ground, I'd suggest a 4-link and tubbing the rear to the width of rubber you want to run - there's really nothing wrong with McPherson struts up front, and you can always build some custom coil overs with rates to your fancy. I've seen it in the rear end of an E30 with 650whp and it was an economical solution to the trailing arm problem.

I'm not a suspension guru... looks like e46 is good for ~300hp, e60 M5 good for ~550hp. I'd guess there's measurements involved... and (before you're cutting any steel) engaging with your certifier to run your design outline by them, determine what threy'll want to see as you progress. Got pics, or a project page? I'll subscribe, sounds like a really interesting build. Yeeehah!

Its a very nice car, no doubt, but the reupholstery on the 318i Touring makes me very hapy I stumped for all original BMW fabric for my retrim - looks like spotlight or corolla fabric.
