My 330e has been pretty good. Current fuel average is 2.9l/100km but can get around Hamilton without charging. Comparing for gas at $2.70. I pay $11.43 per 100km excluding power. An EV pays $7.60 per 100km excluding power. An equivalent petrol would need to be using about 4.2l/100km to match. Got to add power costs there but you get the idea. Would prefer a 530e next time, but oh well.

in the 15-20k price range you are getting a leaf or a Zoe. Far rather have an i3 than a BYD or MG faux by 4 The real world is more like 150 vs 160-165 - again 15k buys you a lot of charging. Glad a Tesla works for you but supporting the douchebag in chief of that company is low on my things to do list. Accept that no automobile manufacturer is likely to be 'good' but you've gotta draw the line somewhere.

Smashed some B roads today in the eastern BOP, its so easy to forget how f**king good these cars are. Ive done 50,000km in the Skoda to 2000km in the 130. 130 is hands down a better car to drive hard, its in a different league. Skoda is a better car to sit in traffic with.

So I was pretty close to embarking on a supercharging project but (for once) decided to be somewhat sensible and avoid the cost and extended period of breaking then upgrading things. Instead will use what budget I had stashed away to round out what I have, and to enjoy it while also being able to focus on some other things in life. But do not fear dearest gentle reader, got some new treats organised already Ordered a fire extinguisher bracket from Kap Industries over the ditch: https://kap.industries/products/bmw-e46-fire-extinguisher-bracket Will get a 1.5kg dry powder extinguisher locally for this Ordered a paint chip fix kit from Dr Color Chip Finally pulled the trigger on the plate I've been thinking of for a while [ THE337 ] Have an entry level race suit on the way so I can go and do some track days at Hampton Downs Got a long wish list of other things as well ... will be like a mid winter Christmas !!

Thanks for the input. I envy the Tesla range but have no interest in one. I think I’m going to look for a 94ah bev and do a fast charge in Hamilton when I go down rather than carry around a Rex motor for infrequent use.

I had some time today to get a few bits and pieces done. You've probably seem me previously bemoaning my headliner and B/C pillar fabric letting go. I realise that this is standard for an E46, but I dealt with this previously on my 318i, so I'm just over it this time around. Anyway, today I took out the B/C pillar pieces that needed fixing and re-glued the fabric using Scotch 77 Adhesive. It was pretty easy to do, the key things are to only apply the adhesive to the trim, not to the fabric (make sure the fabric is completely shielded). And then wait a few minutes for the glue to tack up and then very gently apply the fabric, gently brushing (caressing even) it with your finger. Being 20 years old the trim wasn't in perfect condition anyway, so it still has a few minor marks/scrapes from age, but will tide me over until I take the headliner out and redo it. Secondly I finally figured out how to get the right-hand encoder knob on the Xtrons mapped to iDrive Launcher to navigate the menus. See the video below for what I mean: IMG_9345.mov The video ends when I hit play in CarPlay, presumably my phone can't video and drive CarPlay at the same time. But what I was trying to show was that when ZLink (CarPlay) is open, the right knob can still be used to play/pause and navigate forwards/backwards through your playlist. To get this working you need to configure the short and long press on the right encoder button as follows in Factory Settings -> Touch Settings -> Panel Key (You can ignore my mappings of other keys - they're from experimenting and are not important) And turn on Control Mappings and map "Scroll Up, Scroll Down, Navigate left and Enter key as follows in iDrive Launcher Settings -> Controls. I'm very happy to get this going as Android stereos are renowned for the right encoder not being mappable. on the IX8246BHL the rotary encoder is mapped to KEYCODE_MEDIA_PREVIOUS and KEYCODE_MEDIA_NEXT and it is the fact that it is mapped to actual Android key codes that makes this possible. Please note that I have no idea whether this would work on any other Xtrons unit - you'd have to try it yourself. Limitations? I'm not too sure of what all the limitations are as I'll need to play around with it more first, but I'll update here as I find anything. Very happy to have this working properly now. I don't have any particular day to day burning need for it, but it was annoying me that I had it almost working but not quite.

Classic Tesla owner. OP wants an i3, looking to spend about $20k based on the age and KM in the first post... Tesla fanboy storms in pimping out how much better a Model Y is than everything else in the world. The cheapest for sale is twice what the OP is looking to pay for an I3, and lets face it, no one is cross shopping the awesome little i3 which pushed the boundaries of design and tech, with Elons overweight ugly abomination.

Was driving around Auckland cbd the other day... Very confusing. 30k speed limit - but I can now understand that. People are completely unaware of how roads works! They walk around so self entitled, looking at their phone with their ear pods in oblivious to the fact cars are on the road and they should not be. We are empowering these f**kwits by lowering the speed limit so when the inevitable happens and one of these special people walk out in front of a moving car they might live. I'm not sure we need them...

All I do is hold volume down and channel down buttons on steering wheel for a second and then select map with volume up and down, it's instant, rpm needle changes position so you know which map you selected.

Hey, Used it myself when I was working as a detailer. It definitely does work and is easy to apply. But don't expect it to be as perfect as a fresh paint job. Certain angles in certain lighting will make it a little noticeable but if you're standing a meter back, it's pretty good. I was doubtful at first before I tried it.

If in or near Hamilton, Greg Hantz is very good.

The unworn houndstooth Recaros that are in there now should defray the ‘rose city cars’ tax somewhat? Nice but 96k buys you quite a lot of Porsche / Audi RS / Maserati…
