Got to take the ‘vert out for a short drive to East Auckland BMW for the 50 Years of 3 Series event, as I finally managed to get the Tech 1 front bumper all together and on to the car.

Euro plate plinth https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-european-bmw-parts/european-front-license-plate-holder/51117030592~geb/ - number 9 in the below diagram. Should be able to reuse the self tappers out of the Japanese plate holder. They look cleaner if you get a euro plate surround but can just drill holes into the four corners of the euro plate itself.

The front number plate bracket will just pop out of the bumper (some might have a couple of push pins holding it in from underneath too), get a replacement wider euro plate bracket and pop it in. Pick-A-Part will probably be your best bet. The rear one I'm assuming will be a similar deal, not sure if there's a different bracket for a euro plate back there too or it'll just bolt up to the standard one just the same. I've not actually fitted a euro plate where it didn't have one already, I just put a slim plate on mine and trimmed both front and rear brackets to size.

Yeah, the RE003s where genuinely sketchy as sh*t on the skoda, ESC going off driving straight on motorway etc, I wouldn't let the wife drive it in the wet that's how scary it was! PS5s on it now and its night and day difference. I did do 0-100 in 5.3s in the 130 with RE003s, they definitely work well in some situations. LK03s going on Monday next week, they are Hankook Evo S1s and still made by Hankook.. Will let you know. I hope to be able to do some "proving" k's on it to make sure its leak free and all working etc before sell it. Will also take it through wheel alignment and a proper WOF to check my work.

Over 20 orders here too. Faster than anything from the US. And often a better variety of brands. A little more work involved as you should always search by part number. Get Part Number from RealOEM. Then fire that into spareto. If there is any problems they are great to deal with. Their shipping is broken down nicely too. You can see the cost per item based on weight. If something doesn't look right fire them off an email and they correct it fast.

Hah, Im from one of those European countries and lived it. We had an E34 520i and family had a host of different BMWs of the era (including e34's). The 518i is 112HP in a heavier car than the E36 so your comparison is kinda pointless. The 518i, depending on options, is between 50 and 75hp a ton. IMO, they only get balanced properly at the 525i level (around 120hp a ton) and in our familial experience, fuel consumption is better on that mid point than on the entry level engines, in the real world. I think we can probably agree the designers of the e34 did not plan the 518i as an optimum or efficient idealised example of the product. Its a symtom of tax regimes, not good product design. Is it functional? Yes. Is anything more competent a capitalist luxury? In my opinion, no, thats a tad extreme lol.

This project is finally back on track. Found some time over the Xmas break to move things along. Need to introduce the JBE and all E92 M3 wiring to give seamless integration. Using existing plugs and wiring wherever possible this is well under way thanks to the effort/time put in by James. The pics can do the talking.
