Thanks guys, am hoping to keep it for a long time and bring it to events and car shows etc in the future, especially once it's well and truly a classic dinosaur from a forgotten age of gasoline, cocaine and general debauchery!

I have a set for sale which are perfect E39 fitment. Also be careful with secondhand wheels if you want to fit them to the E39. The e39 has a bigger centre bore of 74.1mm as opposed to most other 5x120 PCD wheels for BMW which are 72.6mm so they DONT WORK. You need to find E39 specific wheels such as the ones I am selling or other wheels OFF an E39 (which is very rare to find secondhand) (I have owned 3 different E39's and know this problem very well!!)

Hi all, I've owned my 3 BMW's for a number of years and carried out quite a lot of changes especially to the 540i but only came across this website tonight!!!! I'm a member of some US based forums but so happy to find a Godzone one. One thing I'd really like to sort out on my E38 is the remote locking, even though it's a late 99 model I've got the dreaded 2 button infrared unit. Same as my E39 so already been through the re-teaching procedure but still no go. Remote is fine, pumps out the signal ok but no response from the car. Anybody know how to diagnose these things? Regards Nick

To get any decent results the intake filter needs to be low down in the bumper. Its much cheaper to make your own, and likely get better results.

Burnt a lot of 98 fuel driving around Hawke's Bay following around lots of other BMWs that are in the Targa HB. Also spotted two nice E30 M3s in the car parks, one Henna Red with fishnet recaros and one Alpine White with ACS wheels. it was a good day!!

I mucked around with an intake on a M54B30, just made an annoying induction noise. Was nicer stock. Would be the same result on a M54 2.2 320i Performance gains are nil with intake mods like such, the weathers ambient temperature would have a bigger effect!

Old one was touching our heads on our way home from shopping on sunday so we decided to stop at spotlight and take a look at some materials.... In the end it wasnt my decision so we went home with a hugely marked down piece of fake white fur, approx 1.15x1.5m for $15, adding the price of 2 cans of spray adhesive and the whole job cost about $40. It looks kind of odd... but it feels amazing ?. The whole job took maybe 2.5 - 3 hours, a lot of that time was spent working out how to take interior apart and actually get the fiberglass out of the car in 1 piece.

I removed the front shields from our E39. After sealing of our road, it was getting a stone EVERY day... on BRAND NEW rotors! Then after removing them, I discovered the light rattle I'd had for years... was from the shields! Gone now! ?
