Hi everyone, Forums newbie here base in Auckland. I’ve just got back to the BMW family, last BMW I had was an E92 M3 9 years ago. Had a couple of V8 AMG’s then decided to switch to the 3.0 M4 as the fuel price keeps going up ?

216849 km Has been in with Jon at Auto38. New TRW center drag link (ebay UK) $600 landed incl customs. New Febi idler arm bushing $74.75 Car feels significantly better....shimmy at 80km/h is CURED as is the shimmy under braking. Car feels so much more responsive and the steering feels tight, best it's ever felt under my ownership. I still have a click going on but I can live with that with the shimmy gone. Finally a mechanic who is enthusiastic about their workmanship and knows the car inside out. Jon diagnosed 5mm play in the idler arm and also found the clicking to be coming from the boots on the draglink. A way more precise diagnoses than the previous crowd I took it too.

Hyundai = humiliation. @Ripstart01 They are very hard to find. Consider converting one. If you found a manual one there would be 'just one'. You have you pick of hundreds of autos so would likely get a far better car & spec. I'd personally try and find a N55 DCT.

Probably just price and slow speed turn in. Factory rears are 255 tires also.... The small rear tires and anaemic rear arches are imo this cars main weakness. Guys in the US buy an arch set for about 2000USD, pay another 2000usd to have the rear cut and these fitted and painted. Pricey but lets them fit 325 wheels/tires and looks great.

    1. I was expecting to make an adapter for the mount to fit the e28, not a biggie in the scheme of things I thought. 2. engine has been sold so sorting adapter and wiring loom adaptation is not going to happen by me now. 3, Yes, basically another engine less head and ECU. Sorry, it has been snapped up by the M30 engine buyer. 4. I have had the e28e auto over 12 years now, mainly towing, all over NZ. Nearing the 300k mark, no breakdowns, very reliable and a real pleasure to drive. It has great torque as you will know for a 2.7L motor. Before me someone had built a substantial towing frame which extends towards the front of the car well before certs were the norm.WOF inspections haven't raised any comments thus far. Hoping for another 10 years I reckon. Cheers

Nothing European matches it's performance in the same CC category for a production vehicle. I wish I had waited for the new 2.liter"N" AWD version of the Kona which comes out next year https://www.motoringresearch.com/car-news/hyundai-explains-meaning-of-n/

This is my favourite at the moment - running a turbo'd m50 on airbags

As long as they are the right rims, it looks good. I guess its something to do with big gaurds and skinny tyres of the era that makes it look +10 with wheels that fill the gaurds better? I keep looking at E24s at the moment....

1938 323's are very rare, best you look after it well. ? Yes, you can clean the existing hoses no problems. Any detergent will be fine, just make sure you flush them clean and let them dry really well. Silicon hoses can be found here: https://roosemotorsport.co.uk/silicone-hose-kits/bmw-silicone-hose-kits/e30-hose-kits.html And also other places, I'm sure Samco will do them but if you can afford them you can't go wrong with the Roose ones, they're exceptional quality. Having said that, as you've noticed the stock rubber ones are pretty durable, given the cost of silicon for really, very little benefit, I'd take a lot of convincing.

IIRC the issue with SAIC was that they had done a deal with an importer, to bring in Great Wall and LDV vehicles, and then decided less than a year later they didn't need and importer and would do it themselves. Which didn't go down too well with the importer that had signed up as you would expect. This is the advert for MG... that Iconic British brand.. hmm.
