I did lol. Viewed a few in rapid succession but nothing that fit what I was looking for in terms of condition. then after a post on BMW club nz fb page a local enthusiast here in Hamilton mentioned he had a 530i, 2001. Owed It since 60000kms it's now done 150000kms, full service history and very well looked after. Took it for a drive it was awesome the 3 liter is so nice. While it wasnt the 2003 I was after it was such a nice example with everything else I wanted, plus room for some of my own tasteful mods, I had to snap it up.

Thanks Michael. Way to many cars in the collection at the moment. Time for a cull.

I remember they were so bad that Nissan parts wreckers would pay you $2000 and give you a full manual conversion for your P11 Primera just for your CVT. They would then make a mint from them.

Today's progress was slow, due to that damn water pump. What a pita of a thing to remove and in the process, I broke the pully - sigh. However it was not a complete loss, managed to finish the rocker covers (one of my favourite colours), replaced the Sump gasket, oil pump O-rings and started cleaning the subframe and thermosta

Finally got around to starting the major service and Tidy up on the wife’s E46 wagon, to get it ready for sale. Not enough room in the garage so have to do it when the weather is ok and there s day light! Got a lot of it done, but needlessly rooted an o-ring so now have to order a replacement before I can finish it. Oh, and the wife has now informed me her new 1-Series needs a service as well, it never rains, it pours!! I will get back to the race car at some point..

For the purposes of this thread, it could be confusing to anyone reading that later, the 1-Series definitely should and does have smaller rear seating than the two SUV's you compared it to. This should not be a surprise. ?

If you look closely you can see it’s LHD and has a US plate holder on the back.

Thrashed a rental 2019 corolla over the crown ranges today. Stuck it in sport mode, slapped the transmission into manual and was prepared to be thoroughly underwhelmed. Smashed the go pedal and started tapping through the gears, and it was wickedly responsive, nearly like a DCT! bang bang bang.. and there were 9 of em! Only a little bit of slip, and it changed cogs in milliseconds. Very impressed by what I thought would be a horrid slushbox. Got home and googled what kind of insane box this was and how they fitted so many cogs in it ... Its a friggin CVT! My world has been shattered.

Suspension back in over the long weekend: Also sorted out the wheels for this project - thank you Tom (M3_Power)! The car seeing daylight for the first time in months: Very happy with how it's turning out; a few more jobs to go and then it'll be on to paint.
