  5. When I turbo'd my Sierra years ago I'm sure there was reference to that in the specs for the Garret turbo I used. On that angle you might get oil puddling in the compressor side of the turbo when the engine is turned off because the angle of the drain wont allow the bearing assembly to drain out properly once the engine stops. Over time you would get alot of oil in the intercooler
  6. Both camshaft sprockets on a M50 are slotted so you can get the camshaft timing correct. All BMW chain driven motors have slotted sprockets. Using the correct profile tools, you can set it up perfect or if you are running a wild cam / camshafts, you can set the timing to the camshaft specs to get correct opening / closing and overlap.
  7. I don't touch spirits....I'm not old enough

  12. I'm not trying to be negative here..but.. from the photos, it looks like you might have clearance issues with engine movement. How are you going to protect the bonnet from turbo heat ?? They do get friggen hot

Hi Grant It'll be like this ...there soon Cheers Glenn
  17. Saturday morning I got up early, dressed quietly, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, slipped quietly into the garage to hook the boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50 mph. I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad throughout the day. I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. There I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible." My loving wife of 20 years replied: > > > "Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that sh*t?"
  18. 2 cans of Brillantrot cost me $70 about 5 months ago at LJ Smitts
  19. That would definately have to be a typo Highest km reading I've ever seen was on a Peugeot taxi back in the 70's .....620,000. Belonged to my boss's brother inlaw. Edit: Cant remember...it might have been miles not km
  20. Sounds like youve done a bit of mix & matching. Remove the clutch slave cylinder and check that the clutch fork has freeplay ( clearance) if it does the only thing that can cause the slipping is the pressure plate. I also find it hard to believe that the clutch plate linings on the plate you are now using are 4-5 mm thicker on both sides than the old ones, or were you just guessing that measurement ? A new plate is only about 8-10mm in total thickness. Bleeding the clutch will not have any effect on a slipping clutch. It will either be a mechanical fault you have introduced or the clamping pressure of the pressure plate.
  21. A E39 530I should have pre cat and after cat 02 censors (4 in total). You cannot remove that cats in that configuration. It will run too lean and damage the engine. You could however fit larger higher flow aftermarket cats. We have used american made cats fitted by Pit Stop and supplied by Chase Exhaust systems. Once fitted the live data readings from the 02 sensors must be checked. In saying that. Recently we had a problem with an E46 318I where we tried two different cats on the car and were still getting error codes and the rear 02 sensor was unstable with high readings. Reluctantly we had to fit an OEM cat to fix the problem. We are still waiting for the prognosis from the cat supplier. I would suggest that if your cats are OK......leave them. If vehicles only use pre cat 02 sensors then there is no problem with complete removal.
  22. Check for stones in your brakes, caught in the callipers or between the backing plates & rotors
  23. Does it make the noise stationary with the motor running ?? Or just when your moving ??
