Know of an AKL tire/brake specialist open 31/12 or 01/01/14?
*Glenn* replied to Tristan's topic in General Discussion
Sorry Tristan... but I need to add to this. There are a number of people on here that I have helped and done all the hard work to check and make sure what they are ordering from overseas are the correct parts and of a reasonable standard / quality on the understanding I was going to do the work, having diagnosed and confirmed the faults or necessary repairs at no cost... only to be shiited on and these people getting there "mates" or other repairers to do the work. -

+1 on that JnO Alot of repairers are getting negative on repairing vehicles when the owner supplies their own parts. We are looking at it on a 1 on 1 basis -
No.. that won't work. It needs to have adaptions cleared in the DME & EGS with a scanner

It is now... just so used to the old system (old fella)

We fix spinners for about $150...dependant on the jammed position of the barrel. Spinners should be fixed when they first start giving problems. I've had some cost that much when the lock housing needs replacing due to the position of the barrel

The search function is pretty limited. How can you search threads by users name ?? like on the old forum ?

No it doesn't on a E46... Orange oil can is oil level.... Red oil can is no oil pressure

Adeeb... I must say that I'm not sure you should continue driving the car untill it's been repaired. It's potentially dangerous, as I said to you today.

The original Ti small case diffs won't last with the M50 Hp... especially if you plan to turbo it. You need to go medium case with the larger 325i MS axles

The lifters only have a small operating tolerance.. I forget what it is at the moment. Machine seats or valves and this working tolerance gets either too big or too small. It's engineering good practice to keep them in order and check the heights before assembly. Correct any that are not within spec. It's the same as checking piston ring gap, bearing clearances or tappet clearance on a non hydraulic valve system

I've done E46's without problems. Put a blanking plate (steel) between the valve and pipe to seal off the exhaust. Fit a ball bearing in the vacuum hose to block it and unplug the SAP. Leave everything else hooked up and it all looks original.

Have a read through this http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/20977-e36-m50m52-manual-conversion/

The Ti is a small case diff. I fitted a medium case 3.15 : 1 with LSD & the larger 325i MS axles. There are a few mods to do to do this

Probably just the handbrake shoes rubbing on the backing plate for lack of lubricant. Try it with "PARk" on and no handbrake.

It's likely to be the earth connection in the rear tail light plug... a very common problem

E30 fogs, shocks front, rear springs, mixed cluster

Use the flywheel from a M42 or M44 non dual mass

+1 Pitty they don't have the balls to outlaw smoking too. It might hurt for a short time... but collectively we would all be better well off.

Get the fault diagnosed by someone that knows what they are doing and stop doing all this hit & miss fault diagnosis which probly won't get you anyehere. You have probably introduced more faults, these will need to be cleared, then drive the car till the fault occurs again and see what the fault is. The fault registered in the DME could also be the result of something else, so I would suggest getting a person with BMW knowledge to do this.

Thanks John.. I'll do try it in the morning

All good then... I just couldn't see any evidence of that. BTW... try and keep you work area a bit tidier... your less likely to hurt you self or damage something. Your photos indicate sh*t everywhere. Not an ideal working area...>>>>constructive criticism

Can someone help me with my non working signature links ???

Do you realise valve stem heights are critical on these engines ? It doesn't look like you have kept the valves in any order so you can put them back in the original position. You now have 24 valves and a six cylinder engine... one hell of a combination to get them back into the original locations.
