  1. Yes I would not use them, the magnetic sump plugs might start drawing the high mileage steel components down towards the plug, causing catastrophic damage to your engine. I'm surprised these vehicles have provided you good service past the 100k shut off point

Tyres are just black tubes on your wheels. If the air stays in the bottom they're all good to go...so long as there's tread on them and your only doing 80k
  3. I would recommend them to give you evidence that there was a f**k up. Metal on the sump plug would be good to use in court. Insurance would be doing it right or paying someone to do it right who has public liability insurance. They are also heavier than the new plastic ones that give you a weight advantage on performance that the manufacturers are introducing along with getting rid of those heavy dip sticks.
  4. It's all over if you need magnetic ones... what you trying to catch ? timing chains or conrods ?
  5. It's the liability issue, exposure to risk & the SOGA along with margins, plus the quality of what is supplied. Some people also want to supply there own parts and also expect you to give them a discount on labour as well. We do not discount our labour. It doesn't work for me, and I'm not interested in the crap when something might fail or go wrong
  6. Toyota has a special positive clamp on the batter terminal. You may not have had a firm clamp on the terminal

Not on a E39...but I have had a great run out of them on the Xtrail and will go with them again. The Motorhome has 5 new ones on it now too. I'm running 225 / 55 / 18 on the Xtrail
  8. A lot of euros need to be running to do this. Latest craze now is no sump plugs on engines. If you release the drain in the sump you need to replace the sump. We have purchased a engine drain sucker that does it via the dipstick tube that has no dip stick. The oil level must be set at 45'
  9. I can do it tomorrow. Give me a call
  10. A litle boy playing with his toys in Korea could make some changes on the population side of things shortly, along with his mad mate Trump

  12. You think you've got problems. I can't search using this account and I can't even log in on my sponsorship account B.M.W. Ltd. No one seems to respond to my request for help.
  13. It's the 4.8 V8 motor that is the hand grenade. I'd go for a diesel model in any of the BMW's throughout all the ranges for a family vehicle.
  14. It's past it's use buy date . It's an old, 11 year old hand grenade. Buy it at the peril of your wallet getting emptied
  15. If you are trying to get hold of me PM me here or go to my website. Please don't try using my B.M.W.Ltd sponsorship account as I can't access it or reply to notifications on that account. To curryinahurry (Andrew) please try again thanks
  16. Those early SMG boxes even give the dealers and reputable transmission specialists a run for their money. I'd avoid it Dan. I'd say that's why it's cheap
  17. You could also talk to these guys http://www.arrowwheels.co.nz
  18. SPC won't have it. BMW want $85 for them, but a bit DIY you can fit an Audi A4 halogen park light bulb into the halo bulb holder
  19. Same here we have this occur quite frequently. My wife's Suzuki will also do this if I have to move it from the garage without letting it run to get off auto enrichment or run it for a minute at about 2,000 rpm
  20. I've always been against it, however things have changed in the industry. I feel it's time to have regulations and licencing in the industry to carry out motor vehicle repairs as they do in Australia or better. Technicians and Workshops need to have licences to carry out repairs and documentation showing that these repairs have been carried out to a standard and to be held responsible for these repairs. There are too many idiots & "Cowboys" out there in our industry. And there is one company out there that supports some of these Cowboys which misleads the public into thinking the repairs are being done by reputable repairers to a high standard.
  21. Nick and I were pleased to be able to help you Chris with the situation you were placed in. Don't go overly hard on the inexperienced person who did the work. He'll end up broke or fixing wheel barrows... and loosing friends
  22. Ambient temp sensor is AC only. Maf sensor has it's own intake air temperature sensor
  23. I'd be looking to buy one with a wider bed than those two if money allows
