URGENT BMW MECHANIC REQUIRED CHCH

If you don't do it, you'll have very little to sell. The M40 engines are not the most popular in the E36's either -
URGENT BMW MECHANIC REQUIRED CHCH
*Glenn* replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Is your regular repairer not open on Wednesday ? I googled "European Auto Services in CHCH" There seems to be quite a few down there that might be able to help you. When was the cambelt last done?...M40 motors have to have their cambelts replaced every 40,000km or 5 years...whichever occurs first. If it hasn't been done it would be prudent to do it with the water pump and replace the thermostat and any perished drive belts as well -
They always have been ..not many in this country as quick as mine

Tomorrow is Xmas day and I'd like to wish you all a merry Xmas and a happy new year from myself, my family and staff. It's not been the best of years for us kiwi's and personally I don't want another year like 2011. Let's all hope that 2012 gives us all, as individuals and a nation a bit more fun & prosperity to look forward too. Christchurch residents & now Nelson folk are having to deal with terrible circumstances & I don't envy you at all. I hope everything comes to fruition in 2012 for you and you can move on. The most important thing for me at this time of year is family and friends. Nothing material really matters. Cuddles, bonding, laughter and sharing at this time of year is the stimulant we all need to move into a new and demanding new year that will demand our energy and resourses once again, and in some cases test our ability to cope. Let's put all this behind us, even if it's only a day or a couple of days and really enjoy what we have and what is closest to us. I'm going to have one of the best days in my life tomorrow. I know this because it's all planned and involves my whole family. I'll share this after tomorrow. “Meri Kirihimete me te Hape Nū Ia†From Glenn, Glenda, Kerrin, Stacey, Family & Staff

The only mechanical warranty that you can buy privately that I know of is Autosure, under written buy Vero. You get it through the AA after a pre-purchase inspection done buy them. Some BMW's they will not cover now ie: E65 with their new policies. I'm not sure about an E60 M5, you would need to check with them

Be best to scan it and check live data while driving it and work from there

They were metal to metal at least 3 months ago ??

Your leaving it a bit late to get it looked at before christmass. Warranty assessors are rushed off their feet ATM. Basicaly there are only 4 days till the christmass break. If it's been happening for over a month, you should have had it professionaly checked ages ago. These issues never get better by themselves. The fault could be one of the many things others have listed. It needs to be checked and as Brent said it needs to be checked sooner rather than later before it turns into a major. How many times has it been overheated ? Which mechanical warranty company is it ?

That's not correct. Like any other business, the dealership's are privately owned and they cannot access each others accounting systems for service invoices. It is also a privacy issue

I would take the advise of your local dealer, especially with the variations in climate you have over there. I,m sure they will also only recommend an LL1 or LL4 Synthetic grade of oil
