  1. Only when you get caught.... you arent meant to alter any approved lense
  2. Ball joints or bushes ?? The ball joints can be individually replaced in the lower arms The rear control arm bushes in the rear lollipop mounts can be replaced without replacing the arm
  3. You need certification for engine mods that produce more than a 25% inrease in power output. Insurance Companies dictate their own terms.. the cert will help though Andy
  4. This is the only correct way of doing it : "New torx bolts every time, 30 Nm, then 90 degrees plus a further 90 degrees." No retorque required. Allow engine to cool after initial running and recheck valve clearances though.
  5. I won't comment on price..but these and real early Datsuns & Corollas are fetching real good money...especialy overseas

So do I... I always say I'll give the same discount to you that McDonalds or the the local butcher and dairy gives you . I give discounts to active members on here...if people ask, unless they have something that benifits me, I decline
  7. Swapping oil types all the time is not a good thing to do. Mag 10w40 is fine...if it was used last time... stick with it
  8. Have you got the balls to try $1 reserve on Tardme ? Youv'e been trying to sell this now since October last year
  9. All I can advise is... if you find a car you like and it seems to drive OK...get it professionaly checked by a dealer or a BMW Independant specialist before you enter into any legal purchasing agreement.
  10. Why not buy a case of whiskey...hire a hooker and forget you ever owned a BMW

Bimmersport is a dictatorship as well ... it's privately owned. If this thread turns to sh*t it will be deleted.
  12. When doing a compression test on any vehicle, whether it be a BMW or not, always loosen the spark plugs a couple of turns and restart the engine before removing the plugs. This will get rid of any carbon deposits that may get trapped under a valve and give you a false compression reading
  13. Get an old leather belt and put it around the top of the shock shaft. Use large polly's to hold it and undo the nut. I hope you've got spring compressors ?.... and large polly's
  14. In or out of the car ??

    Friday Funny

For all those who work with rude customers... it's a shame we can't get to do this! An award should go to the Virgin Airlines desk attendant in Sydney some months ago for being smart and funny, while making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo. A crowded Virgin flight was cancelled after Virgin's 767s had been withdrawn from service. A single attendant was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travellers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, 'I HAVE to be on this flight and it HAS to be FIRST CLASS'. The attendant replied, 'I'm sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these people first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.' The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, 'DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?' Without hesitating, the attendant smiled and grabbed her public address microphone: 'May I have your attention please, may I have your attention please,' she began - her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. 'We have a passenger here at Desk 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Desk 14.' With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the Virgin attendant, gritted his teeth and said, 'F...You!' Without flinching, she smiled and said, (I love this bit) 'I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to get in line for that too!'

  20. I would resist installing anything without getting the right advice first either from a BMW Dealer or someone who has actually done this to exactly the same model here in NZ. Forums may not give you the correct advice regarding this. I have heard horror stories doing this and costs ranging from $5,000-$10,000. Many of the car dealers first importing these got caught badly. You can end up corrupting other control units in the vehicle. Even if you plug in the units you have purchased, they won't function till they have been coded to the vehicle and you run the risk of doing damage.
