Story: So i purchased my 2nd E28 around 10 years ago now and had the plan to turbo the car but life got in the way and i had to move oversea's for last 6/7 years...So it sat in the garage next to my alfa 33 (w 1.7ltr sud engine) Now im back in NZ i have decided that i am going to dedicate myself to doing up the e28 over the next year or so then possibly sell the car but who knows (sure ill make a loss). I am trying to do as much myself, and on the cheapish Current: M30b35 from E32 (Stock) 5 Speed Manual Transmission Crap ratio rear diff ( ex auto car so great for burnouts in 1st . 2nd) Biggest stock bmw brakes i could fit under 15" rims (believe 735i & 540) Stock Suspension Exhaust - 2" twin pipe or 3" Straight off old e28 ECU - MS2 + Air temp sensor + o2 The plan: Engine - 55 lbs Injectors / FPR / MLS or Cooper Ring Head Gasket / Block (Stock for now) / Head (Stock for now) Engine Mount - Right side custom (dependant on space required) Suspension - JRZ Coilovers (or similar) , Sway bars Intake - Now Either ITB setup from M5 or Custom 2JZ Exhaust - Custom 2 x 2" - 2.5" full exhaust Driveline - LSD 3.97 (dependent on power output) / Balanced drive shaft Bushings - New all around Cage - Half / Full cage Paint - Touch up / undercarriage repaint (have a custom color in mind but $$$ dependent & access to booth) Induction - T3 Twin Scroll - HSR40RS (lightened compressor wheel) Insides - Seats refurbished / New carpet (due to leaky battery one of my family members put in there while i was oversea's) I'm in the manawatu area, so just giving a shout out as im sure i will need help down the track as im not superman haha. I will update this as i go through the build. Update 4.0: So not much has gone on since august due to issues with parts, but fuel system images below and manifold is now ready to be finalised. There is going to be another delay once completed due to having to sell another project to re-finance this one

Do you have any of the links to the headgaskets your looking at?? I would personally suggest you could do with either if they are the correct kit, You can always work out if it will change your compression etc quite simply with online calculators. thicker = larger compression chamber thinner = smaller compression chamber

Best option is to google the part number and look at the tech specs. I tried searching by engine number but came up with lots of replacements but no actual details Or if all fails - use a messuring jug and a stopwatch then just calculate the output Plenty of how do's on the net for that

Hey, My old post - http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/22064-wiring-conversion-e28e32-final-steps/ Attached some documents i have as well.... I am still looking for the website with the full conversion has pics and everything but for life of me my internet histroy isn't brining it up so must have some weird title. Hope it helps motonic Stuff.zip

If you need the wiring diagrams etc just to double check i have them around as i have done same conversion but my engine was out of 7 series but same deal. There is a webpage but cant seem to find link What version of Motronic are you running?, as if i remember right 1.3 it has a basic self learning function and also an emergency mode To me personally it sounds like its either gone back to base after you take battery off and ecu battery dies, then takes around 200km (did on mine before it stopped playing games after conversion) eg. misfires, bad throttle responce etc I have also dealt with emergency mode = engine runs like dog due to faulty sensor or out of fuel or wont run at all. I know this isn't the most helpful but plenty of guys on here have good knowledge and as we all know gremlins are always afoot

I am on the lookout for one of those myself, so if i come across any good deals ill post them for you.

There is now a guy in NZ that can supply megasquirt kits - megasquirt NZ is name of company

So don't know if this is the right place so just let me know. I was just wundering if anyone has tried changing the angle thier engine sits on. Example. I have an e28 shell with the m30b35 engine out of e32, i am wanting to turbo the car and know the space is limited on exhaust side due to power steering ( need to do more research but only have internet few hrs a week, so i believe you can change power steering pump for more space). In Looking yesterday i noticed the intake side of the engine has ample space, as i need to adjust engine mounts anyway as wont pass cert. Could i adjust the angle of the engine to give me more space on exhaust side eg. put another 10 degress to the right (looking from front to rear of car) so it was sitting more stright so head etc is more aligned to center of car?? Also any advise on manfolds as i was thinking of doing custom exhaust + intake for the car for further space and looks. Any advise or a point in right direction in forum ( as i said my internet is limited at the moment, so trying to get a job comes first) Thanks

Hi All, Has been awhile but just got to the country so trying to get rid of some parts laying around to put some money back into my project car. I have a set of stock bmw 15" rims with tyres (wouldn't use for road as all old but good for burnouts) - See attached picture Also Evo 4 engine (Missing intake side) , 75k when removed , low compression cyclinder 3 86 Alfa 33 (I think) with 1.7lt alfa sud engine (great for racing) - Full car + spare 1.5 Located in Levin Make me an offer on any parts, can attach further pictures if required

1. 1996 Subaru RS - gota be my worst car by far bumpy ride, turbo lag and a steering lock that causes the wheels to lockup haha. 2. 1978 Toyota Carolla - the gear selctor bearly worked causing me to nearly right off cars as it comes out of gear 3.190E Merc - To Low and not on rims, over 50 bummmpy and rippn the tyres -
I know kind off Random Topic - but figured would give it a shot i have finally decided i am sick and tired of spending hours trying to clean my car down with water blaster, clothes scrubbing utensils to get a good look, and wondering if anyone has come across or used a Steam Cleaner to Clean there engine bay etc, cause i figured that it might be worth the investment in the long run - given our garage is a mess and with all our old cars and the BMW im not that keen on having to pull half my engine to bits each time i want to shine her up and make her look mint. not to be the fact i have killed enough of my paint with degressers and the gresse always comes back. does anyone have any suggestions. 1.they are multipurpose 2. Will it do the job 3. i dont mind hard labour but you know how everyone feels after hours of work and then having to clean the car for a few more

from my experience - all i did was exhaust wrap down the exhaust to keep the heat down through the tunnel. i also tried some diy methods - i managed to get some of the free underfloor insulation/heat shield problem was it keept the heat down - until it completely heated up and then tell me about it - it took to long to cool down. Really wundering if anyone does have it cheap in NZ - Wunder what the Motorsport guys are running

Thanks Guys i think ill just have to learn to dance haha, i have seen some nice custom pedal boxes for e30's but ill just survive maybe take up yoga or something haha

Hi guys quinn has sent me links and looks good im going to add this to the goody package if quinn comes back as says a good improvemtn -
That 535 has being roaming round wellywood for awhile i think its the same seller as last time. mccleanan in wellington helped with conversion on this car, very tidy, does run well i do admit the price tag is abit much but spose the coversion would of cost a penny with the supra gearbox. if you had 15k get that and turbo it for some good old fun.

Car: e28 528i with M30be35 e34 engine Hi guys more a electircal fault but we all know no-one really looks in there, i have recently removed the start reley for my auto, car starts fine, but i am having a major concern. that each time i set the key the the run position, and disable my Alarm i blow my Fuse number 6, car still starts no dash except for battery light. so im figuring i have a short somewhere - thinking its the main Green/White wire from the fuse box, i did a check and with car on and alarm off and no fuse i am still getting 12v between the connectors which i was told means that somewhere the car is grounding itself. does this sound about right, any ideas for tracking the fault back.

Hi Guys ive seen these Electric Supercharger roaming round the internet for a while and wundering what peoples views are on them link http://www.superchargerswarehouse.com/dyno...en-results.html - they are looking at around 200 usd for one so i mean could you get the same performance for the price from something else , i mean ultimatly like anything you should get a tune afterwards but another couple of hundred for a tune is it worth it. the idea seems about right that it basically does the same thing a turbo does by compressing the air that is forced into the system but it only works on wide open throttle im sure that can be changed tho so what are people thourts???

Does anybody know what these are or how much i can sell them for?
User Name replied to paulieboi's topic in Wheels & Tyres
depends on how stingy you feeling they look like 14's to me but im not expert a set of 4 anything from $50 - $200 but more closer to the 100 mark really ive got extra sets of rims at home even low profile bmw stanard rims cant be arsed selling them as are good burnout tyres and my upgraded brakes fit under them so all good -
Good work, i will have to admit that the m30 turbo is taking off - kinda makes me not want to put the effort in for a high end version of the engine cause of the $$$ value but least we know the M30 will be fine for alot of cars ive seen a few supercharger M30's have loads of torque but not as much power for $$$ value - would love to see a twin turbo M30 or even Supercharger+ turbo but the dynamics and engineering required think are abit much unless you have all the toys and hookup's needed GREAT WORK CANT WAIT TO SEE IT GOING
