Watch out when you sand blast them, if they are the same as m50 ones they are made from muck metal and fall apart.

Extremely Poor Experience with Smith & Smith

Yeah took my work car there a couple times, first time was ok second time noticed interior trim piece had been cut and trimmed so the excess glue could be cut away. Pretty shitty for a brand new car. -
Doesn't look as fast

Cyclists and bus drivers. Gfs dad is a retired manager of a bus company and now driving bus' to keep him busy. He is also an avid cyclist with an amazing range of carbon road bikes. Not being able to vent my frustration at the dinner table about how much they irritate me really irritates me.

Pretty stoked to be in a job where I can be paid to drive around and talk sh*t to people. I've been talking sh*t my whole life, now I get paid to do it. Winner. Also did I mention lesbians.

I have a set of E46 inners here that you can come and grab to trial with your E36 outers. I dont think they work to be honest, I have a feeling the E36 outers are too long (similar length to an E30). I would have gone and grabbed some but Gavin was away, I did eyeball them when I was there though and they did look the same length as E30 just with the threads reversed. I have done the same as you and put a small slit in the *brand new* boots for now and to be fair on a race car they should be fine. I would be keen to find a more permanent solution though. If it comes down to it you could easily drill into the rack and put a couple of barb fittings and some hose in to equalise the pressures in the boots. I find it weird that there is no info on this online. Maybe people are using old torn boots and not noticing... or just not noticing at all, like you did before i mentioned it to you haha

Right got it all in and working. The only thing I noticed is that the boots seem to be sucking in really tight when they are fully stretched out ie full lock one way, and when they shut they build up pressure to the point they start to hiss air. What have I don't wrong. It makes the steering noticeably tighter when they start to pressurise. Note there are no power steering lines hooked up and have tried with banjo bolts in and out, makes no difference. Thoughts.

Yeah I ended up cleaning the shitty old grease off and putting new grease in. I have the racks already cheers

Lesbians. Not the dyke ones. The hot ones.

Had a play with the different tie rod inners and outers and decided that mine weren't worth reusing. The outers were ok but the inners had heaps of play on the knuckle. Sourced new ones from Gavin at Euro Italian. Also worked out you need to use the e46 rack boots and ditch that black donut on the e30 inner tie rod. There is a notch under it for the boot to slip over. Just cut that black thing off carefully. Is there anything you need to do to the rack while its out?
-
Yeah they were awesome to deal with. I got the linkage sorted with cap bolts and lock tight and spring washers. It ain't coming apart. The hardest job was getting the damn donut out, what a stupid design!
-
Thanks mate I just ordered one. If it doesn't work I can give it to one of the e36 guys that don't run Ps. Thanks though.
-
Yeah I'm not worried about the fitment. More the exact spacing across the two banjo bolts. You can buy blanking plates to suit e36 but they can't confirm that they work on e46 Racks. I guess if you didn't have to mod anything they should be the same?
-
You should post these in the euro car club fb page. It's full of introvert, chino and boat shoes wearing, man bun wielding, coffee drinking hipsters who would have a masty fest over these. You could even list them with the same price description you have here and get a massive amount of replies - probably even more than you have on this post.

Does anyone know if the hose inlets on an e36 rack are the same as an e46 rack? I Need to get a blanking plate but only have e36/z3 listed and they haven't used one on an e46 before. Chur
