  1. hey guys, having the same trouble with my car m50 320i 95 e36... hard to start the damn thing everytime.. gotta press on the gas while starting.... getting annoying.. and its putting a strain on the good ole bmw battery and if it keeps on going like this starter might lose it =/ 3 days of no use then tried to start car batt was struggling ...
  2. hmm taken out the sensor and checked for resistance.... its within the Ohms stated in the bently manual.... so its still working... must be something else... ive read bimmerforums.com, and there is like a 80 page thread about this...
  3. Car: e36 1995 320I m50 engine I think my crankshaft sensor has gone out and bit the dust... when I have replaced my thermostat in the garage, all looked fine ( but i believe the cranshaft sensor got a bit wet) well anyways, fired up the engine.. ran for a few k's then pow... 0 RPM dead engine no power steering... fired up the engine again took a bit of cranking till the engine started.. and misfires everywhere... whole car was shaking.. engine had hard time gaining speed ( felt like running on 10 horsepower) rev wont go up over 2800 rpm.. when it reaches that 2800rpm it backfires and revs goes down then back up again... I havnt touched anything else besides the radiator, radiator fan and the thermostat housing... so this afternoon i decided to do that freakin job of troubleshooting the sensor.. followed the crankshaft wire under the intake and unplugged it.. sprayed some contact cleaner and placed it back on fired up the engine and still misfiring.. turned off da engine, unplugged the sensor and fired up the engine.. still misfiring.. conclusion: even when the sensor is plugged or unplugged it still misfires?? faulty sensor?? or is there something else?? ive had this happen to me before but went away after a few days and would start up normally in cold starts.. but now it wont:( If it is the crankshaft sensor, where would be a good place to buy one?? new??? second hand?? cheers

  13. If i was old enough to have a son who can drive, i wouldn't buy him a first car that is of a high performance... i would imagine him trashing it around or so and might get in an accident.. and first cars are usually the "practice how to drive cars" but in saying so.. i wouldn't buy him a crapper too... i remember my first car haha the old teggy b16a vtec .. woah man... gr8 first car (as a driver) but mum told me to sell it as she was scared of it being driven by me.. even though i hvnt crashed it or anything.. just sum minor curbage on da wheels and bumper scrapes ... so i sold it and got my beemer... although its not as grunty as the teggy.. its much more comfortable to drive... shud have went to a 325i but meh... dat will be my next car

  16. hahaha !!!... that car costs more than everything in that picture lol
  17. well its all fixed now:D man got me scared for a bit there... changed oil to semi synthetic penrite, changed oil filter and bought new ngk R sparkplugs... engine hums like a dream again haha
  18. yeah hopefully it wont go that far !!>.. im considering a change of oil as well... going for the full synthetic .. just going to read up the threads about it... atm im running magnatec
  19. i jsut bought one from parts master and it cost me 25 dollars including a 15% discount... but it is the cartridge for an m50 engine though...
  20. yeah, the old man said a good oil change might do the trick... the noise was coming from somewhere in the middle of the engine block.. not quite sure where abouts though..
  21. the thing is, it wasn't tapping like that before.. it was running smooth..
  22. after a long drive i noticed that the engine was emmiting kinda of like consistent tapping noises... what could it be?? i checked the oil level and it was within acceptable range... although im going to change it this week as it was kind of brownish now.. ive let the engine cool overnight and started it up again.. it still making tapping noises.. engine is an m50 straight 6 2ltre. cheers for your inputs:D

    Fuel Type

well from experience from auck - matamata i put in 20 bucks bp98... it ran smoove ass no problem at all in the cruising speed and climbing steep roads... from matamata - auck i put in shell 95.. suprisingly after driving a few hours on the 98 non stop i felt a little power lose... especially on the hill parts i had to press a bit further on the gas.. milage was roughly the same crusing at a bout 100 - 140..
